12 Inch Heels? Only In The Modeling Industry...

We have all complained that we had to wear heels and that our feet hurt. We complain about 3 and 4 inch heels, can you imagine wearing 12 inch heels while walking down the runway? Impossible! Models are taking a stand and telling designers that they will not wear them and that it is a safety issue. The recent Alexander McQueen fashion show caused 3 models to boycott the show because the shoes were a 12 inch platform.

Models are suppose to look tall and are known to wear the craziest outfits while walking in a runway show. 5,6,7, and even 9 inch heels have been worn in fashion shows but 12 inches in unrealistic. Models usually don't argue with what they are asked to wear but this is a safety issue. Have you seen models fall while walking the catwalk, it's not pretty.

Next time you are working a trade show or promotion and your feet hurt, realize that your 3 inch heels could be a lot worse.

ANother Photoshopped Ad Banned

Shocking news... another model has been photoshopped in a popular ad! I feel like all season models have been photoshopped, we had the Ralph Lauren ads, then there was the Demi Moore magazine cover and now its Twiggy in an Oil of Olay ad. Twiggy is 59 years old in this ad and people think she looks way to young and is misleading users.

The ASA has banned all of the Oil of Olay ads with Twiggy in them.

There are only 13 more days left in 2009. Can we go the rest of the year without another photoshop issue?

Holiday Food = Holiday Work Outs

Christmas Eve is 1 week away and that means holiday dinner with the family, and gaining an average of 10 pounds. Here is a list of foods to avoid during the holidays.

1.Eggnog. This drink is made of sugar, cream and eggs. This drink has 200 calories in just 5 ounces.

2. Baked Potatoes. Adding sour cream and butter can turn this food into one of the most fattening foods you can eat.

3. Prime rib. This meat comes from the fattiest part of the cow. A 10 ounce piece carries over 1000 calories!

4. Pecan pie. Even a small piece contains 520 calories and 23 grams of fat!

If you couldn't resist your craving and gave into temptation don't worry, I have a few fun winter work outs to try.

* Ice skating. Models can burn over 450 calories per hour doing this. ( Chicago just opened another ice rink too)

* Shopping. Models love shopping! You can burn 250 calories per hour from walking and carrying those heavy bags.

* Sledding. You can work out your whole body and burn almost 500 calories an hour.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season. Enjoy your holiday events.

* There is a page that you can view all the activity that pertains to you. No more searching.
* There are discussion groups instead of forums.
* Right now it's free and everyone will be upgraded to a Silver membership.

Green Martini is a great way for models to network with photographers, make up artists, and other models. Make sure you start a profile today, go to www.greenmartini.com today to start networking!

What Not To Do In The Modeling Industry

The worst thing a model can do is cancel last minute or not show up at all. Models should never do either of these things. Yes, things come up and people get sick but it's too common in the modeling industry and hard to believe if it's true.

Why is canceling last minute or not showing up bad for a model? So many reasons. The main reason would be that the modeling agency that booked you will never book you again. If you chose to do this with many agencies it will be really hard to find any work at all. A modeling agency won't take the chances on someone that has flaked in the past. The modeling industry is very competitive and you need to have a great reputation and be known as reliable, dependable, and great at what you do. Remember models and staffing agents all know each other. If you don't want people to say negative things about you make sure you show up to work and do your job well.

Not showing up to an event hurts the model, she won't make any money. It hurts other models that are scheduled to work, they have to work harder and longer. It hurts the modeling agency because the client is affected and that means the modeling agency is affected too. It also hurts the client, they are paying for models that they selected and it's not always possible to find replacements. Think about how many people you will let down before you chose to not show up to an event.

FYI- any model that cancels last minute or pulls a no-show will be removed from the Pink Avenue Models database immediately.

What Do All Models Have In Common?

What is something that all models have in common? Trade show models, promotional models, print models, runway models and any other person that works in the modeling industry has CONFIDENCE! Confidence is a feeling and an attitude that models need.

Here are 2 bad habits to get rid of, they are making you look insecure.

* The word like. When people say like a lot it comes off a little dumb and insecure. Be confident, don't question what you are saying.

* Rejecting a compliment. If someone gives you a compliment say thank you don't question it or make an excuse.

If you are feeling a little self conscious here are a few things that can bring back your confidence.

* Dress nicely. Put on your little black dress, heels and get glammed up. You will feel better about yourself instantly!

* Think positive and get rid of negative thoughts. Don't talk about other people in a bad way it shows that you are jealous and insecure. If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.

* Stand up straight and smile. It sounds crazy but it really works!

* Exercise. Another simple thing to do that will make you feel so good about yourself.

If you feel good about yourself you will feel like you can do anything and you don't care what others may think about it. Confidence is necessary for anyone in the modeling industry.

Winter Promotions...Coming Soon

It's almost December which means Winter is coming very soon. There are going to be a ton of promotions coming up this month, and a lot will be outside. Are you prepared to stand in the cold weather for hours at a time? Here are a few items that all promotional models should have to help keep you warm while working these outdoor events.

1. Gloves. Make sure they are warm but not to bulky. Models need to be able to pass things out easily.

2. Hat/earmuffs. Make sure you keep your ears warm. Get something in black that matches everything.

3. Scarf. This will keep your neck warm and cover some of your face if needed.

4. Hand warmers. These things are amazing and can be put in your gloves, boots, or anywhere else needed. You can find them anywhere, they cost about $1.

5. Boots. Get something that is cute but will keep your feet warm at the same time.

6. Winter jacket. Pea coats are cute but not very warm. Get a thick jacket that is a little longer, make sure it is fitted and cute.

7. Leggings/tights. These are amazing and can be worn under anything.

Chicago and New York are known to have extremely cold weather but the promotions must go on. Make sure you come dressed as warm as possible and ready to work.

Promotional Model Necessities

Are you interested in working in the promotional modeling industry? I have to say it is a fun industry to work in but very competitive. There are so many different jobs in this industry, you can work trade shows, events, liquor promotions, street teams and so much more. Before getting in this industry you should have professional pictures to send along with a resume. You will also need a few items in your closet, you may already have some. Here is a list of items every promotional model should own.

* Black pants. Make sure they are fitted and professional looking. Do not buy black jeans!

* Black skirt. Not too short, not to long. The best length is mid thigh.

* Black heels. Make sure they are closed toe. This is required for a lot of in tore demos.

* Black knee high boots. These are usually required when working liquor promotions.

* Gym shoes. These are nice to have and usually worn during street team promotions.

* Khaki pants/shorts. Khakis are required usually in the summer for outdoor promotions but can be asked for year round.

* Umbrella. There are promotions that are rain or shine so make sure you have an umbrella.

* Nude bra/underwear. There are some uniforms that are very sheer and that is when these items will be required.

* Conservative/professional clothing. Most trade shows will request the trade show models to dress professional but sexy. Have a few items in your closet in case the client requests this look.

It sounds like a lot of stuff but you never know what the client will request.

Model Looks That Are Always In Style

Trends come in and out of style so fast. Models are always changing their style of clothes, hair and make up. What looks will always be trendy and in style forever?

* Wavy hair. Messy hair always looks good. Models can dress up or down and still pull off this look.

* Thick long eyelashes. This is very important for models. Get a great mascara to pull off this look. No need for extensions.

* The natural look. Models that don't have a lot of time can still pull off a great look. Natural make up and natural hair always looks great.

* Pale pink nail polish. Colors change every season, Pale pink looks good on everyone and with every outfit.

* Bronze, sun kissed skin. No need to go tanning or be in the sun. Bronzer works wonders!

* Ponytails. This is a classic and innocent look, and it only takes a few minutes to do.

* Red lips. This isn't an every day look but is great for holiday parties or a night on the town.

Models can wear these looks at trade shows, events, promotions, parties or girls night out. These looks are classic, easy to do and look great!

ANTM - 2 Models Remain

Last night on ANTM...

At the start of the show only 4 models remained, but 2 models were sent home leaving 2 models for the final episode next week! Who will win, Nicole or Laura? Pink Avenue Models thinks that Nicole will win, shes been our pick for a while.

The models learned how to dance Hawaiian with a hint of hip hop. Lets just say some of these models aren't the best but they tried. Laura won the challenge and a trip to Maui. The photo shoot this episode turns the models into Hawaiian goddesses. An awesome photo shoot on the rocks surrounded by water. The girls didn't do as great as expected. Were they nervous?

Erin and Jennifer were sent home. Who will win next week? Make sure you tune in for the final episode when a petite model will finally win this competition. Remember the winner wins a contract with Cover Girl, the cover of Seventeen, and a modeling contract with one of the biggest modeling agencies in the world.

Model Submissions - Please Read

I know that Pink Avenue Models has blogged about this before but it happens to us and other modeling agencies so often that I thought I should blog about it again.

When submitting your information to modeling agencies please do it correctly. Pink Avenue Models requires a head shot, body shot, models favorite picture and a candid photo. This is so we have a variety of pictures to show our clients. Make sure that you head shot shows your face and you should be smiling. The body shot should be up close and show your whole body including your face. Sending a picture of you a mile away isn't going to work. We ask for your favorite picture so we know that we are sending your best and favorite picture, something you are proud of. The candid picture is so the modeling agency and client can see what you look like without being photo shopped. Models send us pictures of them looking down, or away, or hair covering their faces and there is nothing we can do with those.

When submitting to modeling agencies make sure you send good pictures that show who you are and what you look like. If you send photo shopped pictures that look amazing and go to the event looking nothing like your pictures you may be sent home. Modeling is an industry that hires you based on your looks and personality, remember that when you are working. You are hired to be pretty and fun!

If you need help finding photographers feel free to call Pink Avenue Models for advice, otherwise Model Mayhem is a great way to do TFP.

Only 2 Weeks Left

Last night was another great episode of ANTM. Only 5 girls were left at the beginning of the show but by the end only 4 models remain. This episode had my favorite supermodel, Marissa Miller! She was amazing and taught the girls a lot about posing in a bikini. Marissa Miller got her start in Italian and American Vogue and she is now a Victoria's Secret Angel, she's only 5'8''.

Marissa taught the models how to look hot without being over the top. She taught the models to push out their butt/chest and show their curves. Models should always pose to the side if they are targeting a female audience and pose to the front if it's geared towards a male audience. She says to always stand on your tip toes to make your legs look longer and to always keep moving during the photo shoot. Remember to point your toes and always face the light. The goal is to look recognizable no matter what the theme of the shoot is.

Nicole was the winner of this weeks photo shoot challenge. She wan a $5,000 necklace and more frames on her next photo shoot. The models got to shoot with Russell James in an underwater shoot. Jennifer had the best picture of the week leaving Erin and Sundai in the bottom 2. Sundai was sent home and the models were very emotional. The remaining girls seem to get a long really well but only 1 model will become America's Next Top Model. The winner wins a modeling contract with one of the worlds largest modeling agencies, a Covergirl contract and the cover of Seventeen Magazine.

Next week 2 models will be sent home. Who's going to win this season? My guess is still Nicole!

Do You Know Your Measurements?

This is something that a lot of promotional models do not know. Pink Avenue Models gets model submissions all the time and the measurements are wrong or say N/A. Models must know their measurements! This helps modeling agencies and clients know what size you are. All you need is a measuring tape and a helping hand. This will be one of the best things that you have done in your modeling career.

* Bust measurement. The model should have her arms at her side, place the tape around the fullest part of your chest under your arms. This will be your chest measurement. You will get the best measurements wearing just a bra.

* Waist measurement. Measure around your waist which is around your belly button on top of your hip bone, it will be on the side of your torso.

* Hip Measurement. Stand with your feet together, and measure around the fullest part of your body between your waist and your knees. Your hips will be about 8 inches below your waist.

Whenever a modeling agency or client asks for your measurements make sure you do it in the right order, chest, waist, and then hips. The average model is 34-24-34.

Only 5 Models Remain...

Last night ANTM wasn't as full of drama and tension. It seems like for the most part the remaining 6 models got along extremely well. The models left Los Angeles and went to the beautiful state Hawaii!

While in Hawaii the models challenge was to learn how to surf. This was to teach the models about balance and poise. The photo shoot challenge was a bit difficult. The models had to surf with a male model and get awesome pictures. The photographer for this challenge was Erik Aeder. Erin did so well on this challenge and was the challenge winner which meant that her and 2 of her model friends got to go on a helicopter tour of Hawaii.

Later on in the episode the models got to shoot with Tyra for the 2nd time this season. The models were placed in sugar cane fields and had to portray 2 different races. This was a tough shoot and most of the models struggled. Nicole and Sundai did great and Nicole won the best photo. Every week someone is sent home and this week it was Brittany's turn which means only 5 models remain. Remember the winner of this season wins a modeling contract with one of the biggest modeling agencies in the world. Who will win? My guess is Nicole!

Next week Marissa Miller will teach the models about posing. Make sure you watch next Wednesday, the competition is almost over.

10 Items Every Model Should Own

Pink Avenue Models staffs a lot of trade shows nationwide. We always try and give tips to trade show models including general information and wardrobe. Promotional models should own black pants, a black skirt, khaki pants/shorts, a pair of gym shoes, and comfortable heels. I found an article that gives 10 wardrobe essentials that every model should own, do you own these items?

1. Trench coat. This works perfectly with dresses.

2. White collared, button down shirt. This is a requirement for many trade shows.

3. Work pants in a neutral color, black or grey. Make sure they fit great! Most promotions will ask the models to wear black dress pants.

4. Black turtleneck. Very classy but sexy, nice for layering too.

5. Perfect fitting jeans. Most promotions will not allow models to wear jeans but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have the perfect pair for when you are not working. You can get the perfect pair for under $50.

6. LBD. Yes, the little black dress. This is perfect for a night out with the girls, weddings, interviews and any other event. Make sure you have one!

7. Daytime dress. Something cute, not too dressy.

8. Blazer. This is a nice thing for models to wear at trade shows because the convention center is usually freezing. Get a cute fitted one.

9. Pencil skirt. This is something that can be worn at many events and trade shows. Pair it with a button down shirt or v-neck sweater.

10. Black heels. These are mandatory and a great investment. Get a comfortable pair with at least a 3 inch heel. You should buy a pair with a closed toe so you can wear them year round.

Do you own these 10 items? If not start shopping!

Modeling Industry Gossip

What is going on in the modeling industry this month? So much!!

* Model Heidi Klum had her fourth child and is launching her own clothing line! The name of the line has not been released yet.

* Alina Puscau graced the cover of Playboy.

* My favorite VS supermodel visited Chicago to open a new Victoria’s Secret store on Michigan Avenue. She has also been chosen to wear the Harlequin Fantasy Bra. This bra is made out of 2,300 diamonds and will be the main feature at this years fashion show. This bra costs around 3 Million dollars!

* Naomi Campbell is speaking out. She thinks that there are not as many African American or Asian models as there should be. Naomi thinks that there are too many opportunities for blonde, blue eyed models and not enough for non-white models.

* Gisele Bunchen is expecting a daughter in December with her adorable husband Tom Brady.

* Ralph Lauren released 2 completely photoshopped images making models look incredibly skinny. One of the models says that she was fired for not being able to fit in the clothes anymore. She only weighed 120 pounds.

* Miranda Kerr is creating an organic skin care collection called Kora.

That is a quick break down of the model gossip this month. Make sure you read our blog daily, you never know what we will write about. It could be about model gossip, fashion, beauty secrets, modeling agencies, or events & trade shows that our promotional models are working. Whatever it is I try to make it exciting!

Another Pink Avenue Models Press Release

Pink Avenue Models has issued another press release! Our last one was an introduction about the company and how the company works. This press release is about trade show and trade show models since we book trade shows a lot. Models and clients can both learn from this press release and understand what is expected from a trade show model. Enjoy!

Pink Avenue Models: Trade Show Models

A trade show model is hired by a client, through a modeling agency, to help represent a company to attendees. Here are a few facts and tips you should know about a trade show model:

1. Trade show models are usually hired for their looks. There are a lot of promotions that are less focused on looks to represent their product but trade showexhibitors want professional beautiful girls with nice figures. Trade show models are also known as booth babes.

2. Trade show models do not work directly for the company but have to learn about the products and services that the company offers very quickly. Trade show models are a main attraction at the booth and have to know the answers to simple questions.

3. Trade show models should show up to the trade show dressed to impress. When working as a trade show model you are looked at as the face of the company.

4. Trade show models should smile and say hello to everyone that you see. Models are hired to attract people to the booth, stopping them as they walk by is a sure way to get them to come in and talk to the sales team.

5. Trade show models should always bring a change of shoes. Standing in heels for 8, 9, or 10 hours is going to be painful. Bring flats or comfortable shoes to change into while on your break or after your shift.

6. Trade show models should own a black dress, black blazer, black pencil skirt and comfortable but sexy heels. These are the most requested outfits for trade show models. Some clients ask for something different or provide the outfit but usually it’s something conservative but sexy.

7. Trade show models…don’t lose your badge. This is what gets you in the show day after day. Make sure you have it each time you leave the convention center so you can get back in.

8. Trade show models should always offer to help the client with anything they may need. This doesn’t mean staying hours after the show to take down the booth but it does mean general assistance.

Trade shows can be a lot of fun and models are there to assist the client. Trade show models are hired because they are beautiful, intelligent and outgoing. These are the qualities all clients can expect from a trade show model.

Pink Avenue Models hires the best trade show models in various cities nationwide, including Chicago, New York, Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Dallas, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego and more! Contact Pink Avenue Models to book your trade show models for your next event.

Only In The Modeling Industry

So the drama continues…

I’m sure that by now you have heard about the model that got fired for being overweight, and the picture that was extremely photo shopped. Of course there are 2 sides to every story. Filippa Hamilton has been modeling for Ralph Lauren for about 9 years. She is 23 years old, 5′9” and only 120 pounds and was called overweight. She says that she was let go 6 months ago because she could no longer fit in the clothes. Ralph Lauren continued to use her picture and slimmed down her arms, waist, legs and possibly other body parts. Ralph Lauren says that the image was used in a department store in Japan and was released on accident.

Filippa was the face of Ralph Lauren Romance, she has been featured on magazines such as Elle, and Vogue. She is gorgeous and healthy but in this image she looks sick. What do you think?

Last Night On ANTM...

Last night America's Next Top Model was on, so of course Pink Avenue Models watched it. At the start of the show only 8 models remained. The models were sent on a go see challenge and Nicole won, everyone was surprised about this. If you watch the show you can understand why people are shocked, she is a little awkward, but so good at the challenges.

The models photo shoot had the theme of martial arts. The girls wore bright colors, intense make up, crazy hair and had to use weapons as a prop. Last night Patricia Van Oh was the guest photographer, the pictures turned out amazing! Most of the models are learning and did a great job. Nicole is amazing and I really think she will place in the final 2. Jennifer, Erin, Laura, and Brittany all looked great and posed perfectly. Kara, Sundai and even my favorite model Rae struggled with this photo shoot.

Like every week there were 2 models in the bottom 2 and Kara was sent home. The judges thought that she gave up and didn't want it as much as all the other models. Next week the models will be sent on an interview challenge and by the looks of the preview things are not going to go very well. Remember the model that wins gets a contract with one of the biggest modeling agencies so it's going to get very competitive. Make sure you tune in every Wednesday for a drama filled episode of ANTM.

Are You Ready To Work In The Promotional Modeling Industry?

Promotional modeling has a lot of perks, but like any other job it has it's downfalls. Make sure that you are tough and can handle working in any condition, you never know what will happen at an event. before you think about entering the modeling industry and the world of promotions ask yourself these questions.

1. Can you handle the competitive industry? Models get rejected everyday, can you take the criticism?

2. Are you going to act like a diva if you are asked to do something you don't want to do at an event? Are you going to cry and whine if it is cold and rainy outside?

3. Can you wait months to get your check from an event?

4. Are you ready to work day and night? Sometimes extremely early and sometimes super late?

5. Are you a people person? Can you talk to anybody and everybody that you see?

6. Can you pretend to be happy, friendly, fun and outgoing even if you are in a bad mood?

7. Do you own black pants, khakis, black skirt, gym shoes and multiple pairs of black heels?

8. Can you stand at an event or trade show for 8-13 hours straight?

9. Do you have professional pictures and a resume that you can send to modeling and staffing agencies nationwide?

10. Models must have a flexible schedule, do you?

Ask yourself these questions before you get started in the modeling industry. This industry is full of beautiful, fun people that are rewarded for their work. It's a tough industry and you must have thick skin to survive. Pink Avenue Models loves working with new talent so if you have what it takes please submit your profile at www.pinkavenuemodels.com/becomeamodel .

Model Tip Of The Day

Yes models are expected to have nice bodies all year round. Honestly, even models gain weight sometimes. Since summer is over and models are not expecting to wear bikinis anytime soon they might eat things they avoided all summer. Promotional models, print models, runway models, and even trade show models are hired because of their looks, body and personality. Pink Avenue Models knows that it is important for models to work out, eat right and stay healthy. We found out that there are some foods that you can eat that will burn fat for you. This doesn't mean that you can get lazy but it is an added way that models can burn fat. Eat these foods to help burn fat without doing anything.

* Almonds. Almonds are high in alpha-linolenic acid which speed up your metabolism.

* Berries. Eating berries will help you burn up to 30% more fat while exercising.

* Oranges. You can eat oranges or drink orange juice with pulp for the best results.

* Soybeans. Eating soybeans will block fat absorption and break down fatty deposits.

* Cinnamon. You can mix this with almost anything!

* Mustard. This will slow the growth of fat tissues.

* Cheese. Calcium enriched foods reduce fat producing enzymes and will increse fat breakdown.

These foods taste great and most can be carried around in a models bag and brounght to their events. As I mentioned before eating these foods is not a work out replacement.

Halloween Events 2009 - Chicago, NYC & LA

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays and it is coming up soon. How are you going to spend Halloween 2009? There are so many things to do so we thought we would highlight some of the biggest parties and events going on in some of the biggest cities. Here are some things to consider when you are making Halloween plans this year.

Chicago!

* Fright Fest at Great America. This will be the 18th year of Fright Fest and it gets better every year. Great America is offering the lowest prices ever so make sure you plan a trip. All the fun happens after dark!

* 13th Annual North Halsted Parade. This is a must for anyone that lives in Chicago. The pre parade starts at 4 and the actual parade will start at 6. You will see every costume imaginable at this parade.

*The Chicago Scene Dead Mans Ball Costume Party. This year the party will take place at Crobar in Chicago. Tickets are only $15 in advance!

* Haunted Sanitarium at Theater on the Lake. This is scary and is recommended for people 13 and older. This year they have promised to have an Egyptian tomb, graveyard, and clowns.

New York!

* Nightmare. This is a haunted house located in NoHo. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. It is recommended that you buy tickets ahead of time so you can avoid long lines. The tour is about 25 minutes long and is extremely scary.

* Circle Line Downtown's Halloween Costume Party Cruise. The Zepher yacht is turned into a haunted house for the night. Tickets are $50 but well worth it.

* Annual Halloween Festival and Costume Ball. This will take place at Theater for New York City. Here you will find dancing, tarot card readings, costume contest, haunted room and so much more.

* Frankenstein: A rock musical concert event. This event will take place at The Highline Ballroom. There will only be one performance and that will be Halloween night.

Los Angeles!

* Knott's Scary Farm Halloween Haunt. The rides and shows will be full of ghosts, ghouls, werewolves, and vampires.

* Spooky House Haunted Theme Park. This is a 25 room haunted mansion and Darkwater Asylum. Tickets are only $20 for both events.

* Dearly Departed Tours. This is a lot of fun. You will go on a tour of various LA horror film locations. Expect to see some of the crime scenes, and famous death sites.

* Monster Massive Halloween Weekend. This will be the largest Halloween event in North America. This event will be full of DJ's, costumes, dancers, and is located at the Sports Arena Grounds. This party starts at 7pm and goes until 4pm!

If you live in New York, Chicago or Los Angeles Pink Avenue Models recommends checking out some of these events. Have a safe and happy Halloween!

Glamour Has Done It Again

Glamour magazine has done it again and every women in America loves them for it. In the November issue of Glamour magazine you will see a picture of 7 "plus size" models. These women are 3 to 5 sizes larger than models that are normally on the cover of magazines. So where did the idea come from? A few months ago there was a small picture of a plus sized model in Glamour and everyone loved it. Women finally could relate to a model with the same body type as them and everyone wants to see more models like this.

Some say that these women don't even look big enough to be plus size... well in the modeling industry if you are over a size 6 you are pushed into the plus size division. They say the average woman in America is a size 14 so why are models that are a size 0 or 2 on every magazine? This is a question that will never be answered. Beauty comes in all sizes but young girls grow up thinking that beautiful girls have to be skinny which causes low self esteem and eating disorders.

The best thing to learn from this is that all women are beautiful in their own way. There is no such thing as a perfect body. Love your self and make sure you are happy in your own skin.

Even Models Get Stressed out

Models get stressed out just like anybody else. Promotional models stress about their crazy schedules full of trade shows and events. Brand ambassadors stress about how they are going to get to their 6am event and how they are going to make it through their 12 hour event with no sleep. Promotional models that work with liquor brands stress about their nights out at bars and clubs and all the horrible comments they will deal with that night. Print models worry about their early call time and making sure they are well rested for their 8-10 hour photo shoot that requires tons of energy. All models have to worry about keeping their modeling agencies and clients happy which might be the most stressful part of the job. The modeling industry can be glamorous and have a lot of perks, but like any other industry it has stressful moments too. So how can models relieve stress??

1. Be prepared for your scheduled event, then you have nothing to stress about. Have directions printed out, clothes ready and alarm set. Do everything you need to do the night before so you have nothing to worry about the next day.

2. Have calming music on your ipod or computer at home. This will instantly calm you down and put you in a better mood.

3. Go swimming or take a hot shower or bath. Studies show that being in water helps the body relax and lowers your stress hormone levels. This will cause you to relax and take all of your stress away.

4. Exercise. This is one of the most effective stress relievers. If you are too busy to go to the gym try walking or doing yoga at home. You can always buy a work out video and do it at home if you can't make it to the gym. Yoga is relaxing and very effective.

5. Talk about what is bothering you. Let it all out at dinner with friends. If you can't make it out try writing it down, you will feel so much better after you let it out.

6. Get a massage. Yes they can be expensive but are well worth it. A lot of places offer specials on certain days. This will do wonders for a models stress level.

7. Have alone time every day. Do things for you, watch a favorite tv show or movie, read a magazine or book, whatever makes you happy. During this time ignore your phone and emails. Alone time is necessary even if its only 30 minutes.

Hopefully these 7 tips will help you during your next stressful situation. Just remember that everything will work out in the end and that being stressed makes everything worse.

ANTM - Week 3

Last nights episode of America's Next Top Model was full of drama and eliminations. Rachael was sent home last week along with Courtney which means there were only 11 models at the start of this week.

The models learned how to walk on the runway from J. Alexander, lets just say that some did better than others. Some of the tips J gave to the girls were to have speed, presence, big steps, chin down, look sexy, and keep your shoulders back. That is a lot to remember when you are walking in your very first fashion show. The models challenge was to walk in their first fashion show at a mansion in Malibu wearing Kevan Hall designs. The girls had to walk with another model that was normal runway height. You could definitely notice the difference.

Of course there was an elimination last night, Lulu was sent home meaning only 10 models remain in this competition. Next week on ANTM Tyra Banks will go behind the camera and photograph the models. Make sure you watch on Wednesday and if you miss it you can always read the Pink Avenue Models blog to get the juicy details.
