Healthy Snacks For Busy Models

The modeling industry can be crazy and busy. Sometimes promotional models will work at a trade show all day and then work a liquor promotion at night. This is why models always keep extra clothes in their car and all of their necessary products in their purse. With models pulling double shifts or working at 9 hour photo shoots they really have no time to sit down and eat a healthy meal. Don't worry I have some advice for models that are always on the go. I have done some research and found healthy snacks with a real low calorie count. Enjoy these snacks, they are easy to carry in your bag, healthy and won't cause weight gain.

* Pretzels

* Graham Crackers

* Hummas

* String cheese

* Almonds

* Popcorn (lite on the butter)

* McDonalds Fruit & Yogurt Parfait

* Yogurt

* Peanut butter and apples

* Turkey wraps

There are 10 snacks that are healthy, easy to make and easy to carry along with you. Models work really long days sometimes, make sure that you stay hydrated and eat snacks throughout the day. You are never to busy to take care of yourself.

Liquor Promotions

Working liquor promotions can be fun and interesting at the same time. You never know what you will hear when free liquor is involved but you should expect to hear some of the greatest pick up lines ever. Liquor promotions are nice because most are only an hour or two and then you are on to the next place. So why do Chicago models love working liquor promotions? Chicago models love working liquor promotions because they are fun, pay well, and last only a few hours. Here are a couple things to keep in mind when booking your next liquor promotion.

* Make sure that you know the product! Know what it is made of, where it is made and where it is bottled, the proof, how to mix it and any other unique trait that the brand has.

* Make sure that you arrive 15 minutes early dressed and ready to go. These 15 minutes will allow you to get set up and ready before the event starts.

* Have a good attitude because you have to be extra friendly and patient when it comes to working in a bar environment. People don't always act their best when they have been drinking.

* There are usually secret shoppers so watch what you do and say. This is common sense. Don't say anything negative. While working the liquor promotion the brand that you are representing is your favorite brand. If you get a bad report the client tells the modeling agency that booked you and chances are you will no longer be working for that agency.

* You may taste the product before sending it out to consumers, models should know their product and how to describe it to potential buyers. Models are not allowed to drink with the consumers or take shots of the product. The easiest thing to say is that you are not allowed to drink while working but you would love to after the event. It is never ok to drink in your uniform.

Liquor promotions can be a lot of fun and are a great program for models to get involved in because they usually last a few months. Just remember these tips when you are at your next event. Have fun!

Watch What You Post Online

Models get a lot of their work online, sometimes through modeling agencies and sometimes from sites like Craigslist. Models also have modeling websites, Facebook and Myspace pages, Twitter and other social networking pages. Models should be careful of how much information is on these sites. All models in the modeling industry should be careful when it comes to giving out information, this includes promotional models, trade show models, print models and every other type of model. When updating all your sites keep the amount of information minimal. Here are a few things to consider when posting information online.

1. When it comes to Facebook, Myspace and Twitter keep things as private as possible. Set your settings so that only your friends can see your pictures. Try and add only people that you know. Is there a reason to have 3,000 friends when you only know 200 of them? Use the privacy settings, they were made for a reason.

2. Try not to tell people where you are. You can mention something like "hey, I'm working an awesome promotion today" but don't say "I am working at McCormick Place today booth 345." Sometimes models get fans that take it to far, don't give people to much information just to avoid a bad situation.

3. When it comes to Craigslist be careful. You should have an email address that does not include your full name. We have given tips on responding to Craigslist ads before. Make sure that they provide a real email address, include company name and all of the event details. Use this site as a last resort.

4. Google yourself often to make sure that nobody is starting fake profiles with your name and pictures. It happens all the time! Models should set up a Google Alert and they will be notified anytime someone uses their name.

Modeling is a really fun industry but all models should be cautious when it comes to posting pictures and information online. This is one of the reasons models usually have a model name or stage name. It is safe to send all of your information to modeling agencies but when it come to freelance work be more secretive.

5 Excuses Models Hear When Begging For Their Checks

Yesterday we talked about what makes Pink Avenue Models different from other modeling agencies and one of the main things is that we pay fast! We have heard and experienced horror stories about companies not paying their models and have heard some of the worst excuses. Here are 5 of the worst excuses that modeling and staffing agencies have told promotional models when they have asked for their checks.

1. Our accounting system crashed and we lost all of our data, it's going to take months to get back on track. This is a very common excuse. Once again this has nothing to do with the model.

2. We sent your check out 2 weeks ago, I can't believe you haven't received it. This is hilarious because when you do get the check models can see what the date on the check is and it rarely matches when the agency says they sent it.

3. We never received your paperwork so we had no way to pay you. (Then you forward the paperwork that you sent them 2 months ago and they say that you did it wrong and ask you to do it again) Don't you think that the agency should call and ask the model for missing information? Just another lie and a way to delay the models payment.

4. The best excuse is no excuse. Sometimes promotional models call their modeling agency, email the agency, call and text the person that booked them and never get any response. This is when models call a lawyer. There is no reason that the company should avoid a model's calls unless they are doing something shady.

5. The client hasn't paid us yet. That has nothing to do with the model. This is a defect in the company's system. If the company invoices a client the client will pay. Do modeling agencies really think that a model will believe that a well known brand such as Mercedes didn't pay the modeling agency? Thats crazy! If the agency gives an excuse like this they have cash flow problems and need some tips on accounting and managing money.

The bottom line is that models should not have to beg for their money. Models work hard just like people in other industries and deserve to be paid on time. If you are a promotional model that has a horror story or has heard lame excuses in the past please tell us about them. You can email them to info@pinkavenuemodels.com. We can't wait to hear them!

Why Pink Avenue Models?

What makes Pink Avenue Models different from other modeling and staffing agencies?

1. Pink Avenue Models does not use an automated system. We enjoy communicating with our models and clients and do it often. Every email that is sent out and every phone call that is made is made from an employee of Pink Avenue Models. We like to build relationships with our clients and models.

2. Pink Avenue Models pays fast. There are so many staffing agencies out there that pay every 60 days, sometimes 90 days and sometimes not at all. Models are hired, show up to work and do a great job so it doesn't make any sense that they would get paid months later. Usually models have to call and email the agency that they worked for and beg for their money. When the partners started Pink Avenue Models they knew that getting paid fast and well is the most important thing to a model and that's why we have this policy. This is another reason that we have amazing and reliable models.

3. The models at Pink Avenue Models want to work, take pride in what they do and are experienced in the modeling industry. Pink Avenue Models picks their talent very carefully. We want models that are fun. beautiful, reliable, have a good reputation and enjoy working. All of our models have to submit resumes, have professional pictures and are interviewed before they work for us. We know the models that work for us and they trust us.

4. The partners of Pink Avenue Models have almost a decade of experience working in the promotional industry. They have worked with dozens of agencies nationwide and have learned what to do differently. They have learned what they like about the industry, what they don't like and what they wanted to change to improve the industry and build a great modeling agency. Pink Avenue Models has a young staff that has experience working in all areas of the modeling industry and that really helps.

5. Pink Avenue Models goes out of their way to meet the clients needs. Pink Avenue Models has helped clients with the planning of their events,picking out uniforms, and has even sent employees of Pink Avenue Models to go and manage big events just in case the client needs help with anything. Pink Avenue Models doesn't just provide models for the client, they do anything they can to make the process easier for the client.

These are some of the things that make Pink Avenue Models different from other modeling agencies out there. We like being different.

Are You Ready For Your Next Photo Shoot??

The word photo shoot sounds so fun, but it is so much work. A photo shoot is hours long and is full of costume changes, hours of hair and make up and takes a lot of creativity. All models participate in photo shoots, some more than others. Most modeling agencies and even staffing agencies want their models to have experience in front of the camera and need professional pictures. It is really hard for a modeling agency to try and find a model work if her pictures are of her out with her friends, or at the beach with sunglasses on. If you are interested in working promotions, events or trade shows you still need professional pictures. Now all you need to do is find a photographer that is willing do do TFP work. Finding the photographer is the easy part. Here are a few tips for new models getting ready for their upcoming photo shoot.

1. Practice in the mirror. Yes it sounds funny but you have to know how you will look in your pictures. Your photographer will be able to help you with this but they would like you to know your own expressions.

2. Come prepared. Make sure that your nails are done, clear or natural color is best. Make sure that you have shaved everything that needs to be shaved. Pack everything you need plus more. Some photo shoots provide an MUA and stylist but if you are a beginner chances are you will bring your own clothes and do your own make up. Don't over due the make up!

3. Make sure that you have confirmed with the photographer and that you both are on the same page. Have directions to the studio or location of the shoot and be on time! Set up a theme for the shoot and discuss with the photographer what you want from the shoot and he will tell you what he wants for his portfolio. Photo shoots are easier when things are planned out.

4. Watch what you eat the week prior to the shoot and eat a light breakfast the day of. Don't eat anything too filling because it can make you look bloated. Stay away from salty foods and drink a lot of water, it's good for your skin.

5. Make sure that you have everything packed and ready to go the night before so you don't have to rush the next day. Be prepared, it will make your first day of shooting a little more relaxed.

Photo shoots can be a lot of fun but stressful at the same time. Follow these 5 easy steps for a more relaxed day. Start shooting, Pink Avenue Models can't wait to see your new pictures!

How To Lose 5 Pounds In 1 Week!

Sometimes models have a photo shoot, runway show, trade show or promotion where they want to look as small as possible. If you have been enjoying your summer by eating, drinking and getting ice cream often and feel like you have gained a few pounds, don't worry! Here are a few tips that will help you lose up to 5 pounds in just one week. Summer in Chicago is full of good food, drinks, and fun things to do. Enjoy your summer and follow tips to get your body back to the way it should be.
1. Drink mostly water! As we have said before soda, beer, energy drinks, and juice are full of sugar, carbs, sodium and calories. Water has no calories and helps flush out water weight.

2. Don't eat any white grain products! This includes, pasta, rice and bread. These items are full of carbs and add bloating.

3. Cardio! Do at least 30 minutes a day. Spinning, cardio kickboxing and bootcamps are recommended. This will burn up to 300 calories!

4. Cut out snacks. This means no chips with your sandwich, no dessert after your meal. Stick to fruits, vegetables, and water for this week.

5.Sleep more! Models should sleep 7-8 hours each night. Sleep boosts your metabolism. Muscle is built while you sleep so make sure that you are sleeping enough.

The life of the model isn't always easy. Keeping the same measurements that are on your resume and listed with modeling agencies is important. If you have a big event coming up use these tips to get back to your normal size.

Promotional Models Must Read

Models try to get work any way that they can. Sometimes models get work from modeling agencies, friends, past employers ect. Sometimes models see ads on Craigslist which is not the safest way and sometimes the ads are not even real. Here are a few ways to tell if the Craigslist ad is real and worth sending info too.

1. The ad is detailed with times, dates, rate of pay and location. The name of the company should also be listed in the ad.

2. The company that posts the ad shouldn't ask for anything out of the ordinary. It is acceptable to ask for a head shot, body shot and a resume. If the ad asks for all the swimsuit pictures you can send, or pictures of your feet or pictures showing off your chest DO NOT SEND ANYTHING!

3. There is a real email address. Craigslist is free and anybody can post. If someone wants to hire models for a real event they should give a real email address. Models are asked to send resumes and pictures that have a lot of their information on them. Clients should give potential promotional models a real email address.

4. The ad should always describe what the model will be doing at the event. Make sure that there are details and that you are aware of what you are signing up for.

Modeling is a unique industry and you really have to be careful of who receives your information. Promotional models can get a lot of work from modeling agencies but there are some clients that prefer to use Craigslist when hiring models. Before you send your resume and pictures to another Craigslist post make sure that the post includes dates, times, rates, client name, job description, a real email address, and the only requirements are a head shot, body shot and resume.

Tip of the Day

The best advice that I can give to anyone working in the modeling industry whether it is promotional modeling, street team work, print modeling, trade show work ect is to keep a spreadsheet of past events.

For example... keep track of the event, date, hours, modeling agency that hired you, and amount you are being paid. Models work so many events that it is easy for them to forget about who owes them money. Keeping this spreadsheet will be the best thing that you have done. That is my tip for the day!

Gnome, Gnome, Gnome!!

Pink Avenue Models teamed up with a couple great companies over the weekend for an amazing event. We staffed 10 gorgeous Chicago models to promote Gnome Frenzy and Ultimate Sports Decor and lets just say things were interesting. When you see 10 models holding gnomes you have to ask questions. Maybe you saw the 10 Chicago models outside of Wrigley Field, maybe you saw them in the bleachers at the Cubs game, maybe you saw them on TV, doesn't matter where you saw them but there was no way that you could miss these 10 beautiful girls. We had so much fun and can not wait to do it again. Here are some pictures of the event!

Working with Gnome Frenzy and Ultimate Sports Decor was great! The models had a lot of fun and worked hard to get the word out. Thank you to everyone that was involved and we can't wait until the next event!

Make Your Boobs Look Amazing Without Plastic Surgery

Boobs isn't something that Pink Avenue Models usually blogs about but we thought that it was a good topic to touch on today. Some models were born with small boobs and some models were born with bigger boobs. Lately there have been a lot of young girls getting boob jobs to boost their careers. We did some research and realized that there are so many ways to make your boobs look amazing without the plastic surgery. So save yourself from the pain, the expensive bill and the chance of getting a bad boob job. The size of your boobs has nothing to do with your career. Here are a few tips for our Chicago models to think about before they consider surgery.

1. Buy clothing that has a cinched waist or a bottom that is high waisted. Ruffled tops add bulk to the chest area making your boobs look bigger.

2. Use silicone pads. All you have to do is insert these into your bra and you will have so much cleavage. Make them look as natural as possible!

3. Buy a good push up bra. Buy a good one and you can look a size or 2 bigger. This is a must have in every models lingerie drawer.

4. Another trick that is so cheap and so simple is using glitter/shimmer on the boob area. The light reflects off of the shimmer causing the models boobs to look bigger.

5. Buy the right shapewear. We recommend the line from Dr. Rey. He knows a lot about plastic surgery and designed a very affordable line for women to use instead of getting surgery. He has foam padded bras and bodysuits that cost as little as $25.

6. Where a padded bra and a tight tank top. Wearing layers will push them up and out.

7. Always stand up straight! This automatically makes your boobs look bigger.

If you are doing a photo shoot, walking the runway, working as a hostess at a trade show, or working as a promotional model you can use these tricks. It is a quick fix that is cheap, easy and effective. Go buy that push up bra asap.

The Truth About Models

Models are sometimes stereotyped as being super skinny, dumb and stuck up. This blog is written to change your view on models and the modeling industry. Here are 6 facts about models that you may not know.

1. Models eat all the time. Some models are just born skinny and work to keep their small frame. Yes there have been stories of models with eating disorders but that does not mean that is true for every model. Models are normal people that have a unique job. Models love food!

2. Models are smart. Just because a model makes her money walking down a runway, posing for print ads, or working as a promotional model or trade show model does not mean that she is dumb. Most promotional models have college degrees and are just not sure of what their dream job is yet. Working in promotions allows girls to use their marketing background, have a flexible schedule and make good money. Print and runway models make a lot of money and use that to pay for school. A modeling career doesn't always last forever it's nice to have a backup career.

3. Models are not full of themselves. Most models feel blessed to have the opportunity to work as a model. It is one of the most competitive industries and models feel lucky to be part of it. A successful model will refrain from talking about themselves because they don't enjoy the attention. Talk to models, they are some of the nicest girls in the world.

4. Models come in all shapes and sizes. You do not have to be 5'10'' and weigh 110 pounds to be in the modeling industry. There are plus size models that are a size 14 and up, there are trade show and promotional models that are only 5'0'' tall. Most modeling agencies have multiple divisions so they can work with every type of model. Modeling has a lot to do with personality, models are strong people that have to take rejection on a daily basis.

5. Models come in all ages. People think that models have to retire in their early 20's. That is not true. Some of the highest paid models in the modeling industry are in their 30's. Many modeling agencies have 26+ divisions and some have Senior divisions. Every company is looking for something different so modeling agencies want models in every division.

6. Models live in all parts of the world. You do not have to live in New York or Paris. Pink Avenue Models has models in Chicago, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and we also have models in some of the smallest cities in the country. We like to have models everywhere, we never know where the next big event will be.

Basically to sum it up models eat just like everyone else. Models are smart and most have gone to college. Models take care of themselves and appreciate the opportunities that have been given to them. Models come in all shapes, sizes and ages, and live all over the world, not just one city. Models are hard workers and modeling is a career. Don't believe the stereotype.

Plus Size Models, BIG Part of the Modeling Industry

When you hear the word model you probably imagine a young, skinny, beautiful woman. Do you ever imagine a model that is size 14 and up? Maybe not but plus size modeling has become a big part of the modeling industry. Plus size models are used just as much as models that are a size 0. Plus size models are still required to have perfect hair, skin and teeth. Really the only difference between plus size models and high fashion models is their size.

Plus size models are used in advertising campaigns, magazines, on the runway, TV, work and commercials. Plus size models are also being employed by the media to educate and promote healthy body image and self esteem, they want to prove that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes. Some of the biggest modeling agencies in the world have created plus size divisions. Some of the biggest designers in the world have started booking plus size models for their runway shows, plus size models can make a lot of money in the modeling industry!

Plus size models can do promotional modeling, print modeling, runway modeling, work as a trade show model, street team promotions, and be the spokes person for many brands all over the world. Plus size models can do anything that a size 0 model can do. If you have any questions about Chicago modeling agencies that specialize in plus size modeling feel free to ask, Pink Avenue Models has great recommendations.

Thinking about breaking into the promotional modeling industry? Great idea! Promotional modeling is a very fun and exciting industry and pays well. Promotional modeling isn't all fun and games, it is hard work too. If you are thinking about becoming a promotional model you must be hard working, reliable, and have a ton of personality. If this sounds like the job for you here are a few tips on how to get started.

1. Make sure that you have professional pictures and a resume to send to modeling and staffing agencies nationwide. There are so many photographers that are willing to do TFP so take advantage of that and start shooting. Make sure that your resume includes your height, weight, measurements and age along with your experience. These are all things that the modeling agency and client will want to know. Send your information to as many agencies as possible, the more agencies you are listed with the more work you will get.

2. Promotional models will need khaki pants, khaki shorts, black pants, a black dress and white gym shoes. Most promotions will require you to wear these items along with a branded shirt provide by the client. If you are missing any of these items go buy them asap. No need to spend a lot of money on these things because you will be working in them and possibly getting dirty.

3. Get a CTA Pass because driving to promotions in the city can be expensive and is never easy. Taking a train or a bus will be the best thing for you to do.

4. Start networking, this is huge in the promotional modeling industry. If you see models passing things out ask them who they are working with. Models are very helpful in the industry and can tell you what agencies are great to work for and what agencies they have had bad experiences with. You can find promotional models at bar and club events, street team promotions, festivals, grocery stores and any Chicago event.

5.When you start getting booked for promotional jobs make sure that you show up on time, work hard, don't complain and that you impress the client. Reputation is everything in this industry and promotional models need an amazing reputation to get booked consistently.

Once you are in the promotional modeling industry it will be hard for you to leave. Promotional models have a flexible schedule, get paid a decent amount, get a lot of free stuff and get to work really fun events. Get in and start working!

What Models Make The Most Money In The Modeling Industry??

There is money to be made in the modeling industry, a lot of money. The highest paid models are models that work as print and runway models. If you are interested in being a model but don't have the runway body or the exotic print modeling look don't worry, there are other forms of modeling that will be great for you, like promotional modeling! Models work hard no matter what type of modeling they do.
