Models get stressed out just like anybody else. Promotional models stress about their crazy schedules full of trade shows and events. Brand ambassadors stress about how they are going to get to their 6am event and how they are going to make it through their 12 hour event with no sleep. Promotional models that work with liquor brands stress about their nights out at bars and clubs and all the horrible comments they will deal with that night. Print models worry about their early call time and making sure they are well rested for their 8-10 hour photo shoot that requires tons of energy. All models have to worry about keeping their modeling agencies and clients happy which might be the most stressful part of the job. The modeling industry can be glamorous and have a lot of perks, but like any other industry it has stressful moments too. So how can models relieve stress??
1. Be prepared for your scheduled event, then you have nothing to stress about. Have directions printed out, clothes ready and alarm set. Do everything you need to do the night before so you have nothing to worry about the next day.
2. Have calming music on your ipod or computer at home. This will instantly calm you down and put you in a better mood.
3. Go swimming or take a hot shower or bath. Studies show that being in water helps the body relax and lowers your stress hormone levels. This will cause you to relax and take all of your stress away.
4. Exercise. This is one of the most effective stress relievers. If you are too busy to go to the gym try walking or doing yoga at home. You can always buy a work out video and do it at home if you can't make it to the gym. Yoga is relaxing and very effective.
5. Talk about what is bothering you. Let it all out at dinner with friends. If you can't make it out try writing it down, you will feel so much better after you let it out.
6. Get a massage. Yes they can be expensive but are well worth it. A lot of places offer specials on certain days. This will do wonders for a models stress level.
7. Have alone time every day. Do things for you, watch a favorite tv show or movie, read a magazine or book, whatever makes you happy. During this time ignore your phone and emails. Alone time is necessary even if its only 30 minutes.
Hopefully these 7 tips will help you during your next stressful situation. Just remember that everything will work out in the end and that being stressed makes everything worse.

ANTM - Week 3
Last nights episode of America's Next Top Model was full of drama and eliminations. Rachael was sent home last week along with Courtney which means there were only 11 models at the start of this week.
The models learned how to walk on the runway from J. Alexander, lets just say that some did better than others. Some of the tips J gave to the girls were to have speed, presence, big steps, chin down, look sexy, and keep your shoulders back. That is a lot to remember when you are walking in your very first fashion show. The models challenge was to walk in their first fashion show at a mansion in Malibu wearing Kevan Hall designs. The girls had to walk with another model that was normal runway height. You could definitely notice the difference.
Of course there was an elimination last night, Lulu was sent home meaning only 10 models remain in this competition. Next week on ANTM Tyra Banks will go behind the camera and photograph the models. Make sure you watch on Wednesday and if you miss it you can always read the Pink Avenue Models blog to get the juicy details.

A. No, Pink Avenue Models does not have open calls at this time. We have such an unpredictable schedule that we think it is best to take all model submissions online. This also allows us to get model submissions from every state in the US and even internationally.
Q. I tried to submit online but my submission won't go through, what did I do wrong?
A. Every field on the "Become a Model" page has to be filled in and you must check the box before submitting. Make sure that you have a head shot, body shot, favorite picture, candid picture and resume, we need all of these things before we can book you.
Q. I don't have professional pictures, can I work as a model?
A. Pink Avenue Models prefers professional pictures and that is what our clients want to see but we do take models with unprofessional pictures as well. We do recommend that models get professional pictures to enhance their modeling career.
Q. What does Pink Avenue Models do?
A. Pink Avenue Models is a modeling agency located in Chicago that staffs events nationwide. We hire models for trade shows, street team promotions, print ads, runway shows, corporate events/parties, product launches and so much more.

Fall Has Arrived!!
Summer is officially over in Chicago and we are really sad about it. Pink Avenue Models might be sad about summer being over but we are really excited about fall fashion! Fall fashion is amazing this season. Our promotional models, trade show models and print models will all be wearing these looks this season, make sure you do to.
Models hair can be worn up or down this season. The biggest looks are messy ponytails, wavy hair, low buns, and braids (think LC). These styles have all been worn on the runway and by celebrities and are so easy to do!
Fall make up is bold and amazing ... think red and plum colored lips, thick black eyeliner (liquid liner works best), shimmery dark eye shadow, teal and blue eye shadows, shiny and sparkly lip gloss, dark nail polish, and so much more. Models can really be creative this season but remember never wear too much make up!
You will see lots of leather, dresses, cardigans, and tights this season. This is what our models will be wearing.
Shoes, all women love shoes and models really love them! Jeweled flats, any type of boot or platform is huge this fall. Color is in so get bold and wear blue, purple or even red shoes.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
New York Fashion Week is only going on for 2 more days. It started September 10th and ends on September 17th and is focusing on Spring 2010. This means that for 7 whole days New York is full of fashion, crazy hair and make up, new trends and gorgeous models! Not to mention all of the parties!
This year the designers are amazing. Michael Kors, Derek Lam, Diane Von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Max Azria, Narciso Rodriguez, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and so many others. The guests are famous and gorgeous. Amanda Bynes, Bruce Willis, Mischa Barton, Tori Spelling, Hillary Duff, Nikki Hilton and Kim Kardashian were all spotted watching the runway shows.
So what should we expect for Spring 2010? Classy, fitted, neutral colors, bright colors, pastels and so much more. These models are rocking the runway and New York is full of awesome events and after parties for Fashion Week. New York Modeling agencies should be proud of their models because from what I've seen they all look amazing. Pink Avenue Models loves fashion, models and everything about the industry and we have really enjoyed New York Fashion Week so far, only 2 more days.

Chicago Events - September/October
As we said earlier this week summer is pretty much over in Chicago, even though the weather has been amazing! There are a ton of events coming up the rest of September and even through October that our models will be working. If you are looking for something to do check out some of these upcoming events.

America's Next Top Model - Cycle 13
Last night the new season of ANTM aired and it was exciting, full of drama and had short girls! This season all of the models are under 5'7''. The show cut down to the top 20, then the top 14, and now is at 13 petite models. Pink Avenue Models will be giving a weekly recap of the show starting today.
Originally I thought Ciara was going to make it to the final 2 but she got kicked off after the top 20 so my new pick is Rae. Bianca is a drama queen but what was wrong with Amber? Amber left the show for personal reasons after making it to the top 14, will the show be as crazy without her? I think Nicole will add some entertainment even though she has no reaction to anything and never talks. Maybe she is emotionless? She sure did rock her photo shoot! Pink Avenue Models has to be a fan of Ashley, she's from Chicago. Lisa was kicked off last night but that was expected. This season is going to be very interesting and we are excited to give a weekly recap on it.

Self Tanning Products That Really Work
Labor day was yesterday which pretty much means that summer in Chicago is over. Pink Avenue Models had a busy summer and staffed a lot of fun events, we are actually looking forward to the fall. Our Chicago models might be wondering how they are going to keep that summer tan that they love. Well, Pink Avenue Models has done some research and found the best sunless tanners out there. Promotional models, trade show models, print models, and even brand ambassadors love to have that summer glow and here are a few products that they can use year round. Using sunless tanners are the easiest, and safest ways to get that sun tanned look, do not go to tanning salons!
1. Clarins Self Tanning Instant Gel. This product costs about $32 and can be found at Sephora. It is easy to apply, no streaking and has a natural color.
2. Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer. This product is about $7 and can be found everywhere. It's cheap, doesn't streak and can be used as a replacement for your daily moisturizer.
3. Neutrogena Micromist Tanning Sunless Spray. This product can also be found anywhere and costs around $10. It dries in about 5 minutes, should be blended in so there are no streaks and goes on easy.
4. Estee Lauder Go Tan Sunless Towelettes. This will cost about $24 for 10 towelettes. These are convenient, have little odor and dries quickly.
5. Mystic Tan. You can get this service at most tanning salons, it will cost about $25 per session.

Yes, Even Models Work Out
Some people love working out and others absolutely hate it. Well a requirement in the modeling industry is to be in shape. Promotional models, print models, runway models, and even trade show models need to be in shape. It sucks but in this industry you are hired based on your looks, measurements and personality. Working out and eating healthy is something models must do even if they hate it. The best advice that Pink Avenue Models can give to their models is to make working out fun. California Events - October
Pink Avenue Models is located in Chicago but we are not just a Chicago modeling agency. Pink Avenue Models staffs events nationwide and one of our busiest states is California. We love California for so many reasons. California has beautiful models, awesome people, tons of stuff to do and amazing weather year round. There are so many great cities in California too, such as San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and every where in between. If you are traveling to California next month make sure you check out some of these amazing events. California has so much going on so it was hard for us to make a list of only 10 things to do. Make sure you say hi to any promotional model you see, chances are Pink Avenue Models staffed them.
1. Los Angeles County Fair. This event starts October 1st and runs until October 4th. The cost is $17. Check out their website for more details, lacountyfair.org
2. Sonoma County Harvest Fair. All inclusive wine tasting! Both sessions will cost you $60 or you can just go to one session for $35. This event will take place on October 2nd.
3. Morro Bay Harbor Festival. This is the 28th annual fest and attending this event is a must! The dates are October 3rd and 4th and the cost is only $8 to get in. There will be tons of great food, amazing drinks and over 25 bands.
4. Taste of North Park. This will be the first annual Taste of North Park and it is expected to be amazing. There will be food from cafes, bistros, and five star restaurants. This event will have great food, galleries, boutique shops and great drinks. Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. This event is located in San Diego and will take place on October 3rd.
5. Auto Showcase, San Diego. This will be the first annual Auto Showcase and is located in the Gaslamp Quarter. This is a free event and will include Italian exotics, Corvette and Detroit muscle cars, CCCA cars and special interest cars. This event will take place on October 11th between noon and 4pm.
6. Orange County 2010. This event will take place October 15th-18th at the Anaheim Convention Center. This isn't going to be your normal auto show. Yes there will be great cars to look at but there will also be bikini contests.
7. Disney's The Lion King Musical. There probably won't be any promotional models here but there will be a very entertaining show. The Lion King will be in San Diego and usually sells out. Tickets for this musical are only $20.
8. Halloween at Hard Rock - Playboy's Fantasies and Nightmares. Kendra will be hosting this costume party. This party costs $50 but includes free drinks until 10pm so get there early. This party starts at 8pm in San Diego.
9. West Hollywood Halloween Costume Carnaval. This is the largest Halloween street party in the world! There will be over 450,000 people at this event. There is a costume contest. live entertainment, food vendors, and special events. Did I mention that this event is free?? Takes place on October 31st and goes until 12am.
10. Oktoberfest German Celebration. This event will be full of bar maids, draft beers, liqueurs, and dancing. Taking place in Huntington Beach and costs $15.

Chicago Trade Shows - October
I know that today is only September 1st and I don't mean to rush time but the team at Pink Avenue Models is always planning for the future. September is already booked with multiple trade shows and we are moving on to October. Our Chicago modeling agency has had a really busy summer and is expecting to be even busier this fall.
