NYE Event - Miami!

Congratulations to our male models that are booked for the NYE event in Miami. These guys will be working as part of a street team for 3 nights in a row around all of the best places in Miami. The guys have been booked and will be promoting a very popular liquor brand, their goal is to educate consumers and hand out promotional items. Were getting ready to update our website again, it's something we like to do a couple times a year. Pictures For Your Portfolio

Pink Avenue Models receives a lot of calls from models with a variety of questions. I get asked about pictures and portfolios a lot. Photo shoots can be hard work but are a lot of fun at the same time. This is a time for models to let loose and be someone they can't be everyday. It's about dressing up, wearing fun clothes and crazy make up with wild hair. Having creative photos in your portfolio is great but make sure you have simple, commercial ones as well. Here are a few photos that every portfolio needs and pictures we need to get you booked:

Head shot: This is necessary and an image that we send to all of our clients. This is a close up of your face, they are best if you are smiling but not necessary. A natural look is best.

Body shot: Everyone assumes that this has to be a swimsuit or lingerie shot, we actually prefer a tank top and skinny jeans. We want to see the shape of your body but don't need to see the whole thing. Please keep your naked pictures to yourself.

Candid: We want a natural picture of you, unprofessional, not edited. This is something you can take by yourself or a picture of you out. Make sure that you are the only one in your picture, we want to see what you really look like.

We recommend that you send your natural pictures to modeling agencies, save your artsy, creative pictures for your online portfolios. Our clients want to see how you will look at their event. Have fun at your photo shoots and send us updated pictures!

Fancy Food Show 2011!

We started casting models for the 36th Winter Fancy Food Show in San Francisco today, this show looks amazing! This trade show will take place at the Moscone Center on January 16-18, 2011. Every year this trade show attracts over 17,000 attendees and has over 80,000 products to sample, 1,300 exhibitors from 35 countries. This show will have tons of seminars, workshops, tastings, cooking classes and events, there is a lot to learn at this show. This will be a great start to our trade shows in 2011.

Promotional Model Necessities

It's already mid December, where did 2010 go? The team at Pink Avenue Models is looking forward to a busy 2011 and we want to make sure all of our models are ready too. Here is a list of items that all promotional models should have in their closet. Its nice to be prepared for all types of events.

Trade shows: Most clients go for a conservative look. Black dress pants, white button up shirt, black blazer, black dress, pencil skirt, and comfortable black heels are a must for trade show models. Sometimes the clients provide a branded shirt or costume, it depends on the type of trade show.

Liquor promotions: Black mini skirt, black knee high boots and a branded shirt are common for these types of events. Some of the off premise events just request all black.

Street teams: We won't have many of these in Chicago for a couple months but the warmer cities will have tons. Most street teams require khaki pants/shorts or black pants. Make sure you have a pair of white gym shoes for events like these. The client usually provides a branded shirt and sometimes hats for these events.

Special events: Black dress! Special events usually take place at a nice hotel or fancy restaurant so the models have to look their best. Hair, make up, a classy dress and nice heels are a must.

If you have all of these items you are all set and probably have a lot of experience in the modeling industry. If you are missing any of these items I recommend getting them. It's always nice to be prepared. Lets finish 2010 and get ready for an amazing 2011!

AHR Expo 2011 - Las Vegas!!

The AHR Expo is coming back and bigger than ever, did I mention it's in Las Vegas this year? This is a huge show and Pink Avenue Models has already started booking trade show models. The AHR Expo (International Air Conditioning Heat and Refrigerating Exposition) will take place at the Las Vegas Convention Center January 31-February 2. There will be over 45,00 attendees that come from all 50 states and 120 countries and over 1,800 exhibiting companies. This is the worlds biggest HVACR trade show and will have tons of seminars and product presentations. This is the 63rd annual show and they just keep getting bigger. Only 52 days away!

Thanks To Our NYC Models!

Pink Avenue Models staffed an event at the 40/40 club in New York last night for a tv show on TLC. Our models were hired to act as part of the party for a new bike release on OCC American Chopper. Holiday Season Survival Guide

Thanksgiving was just a few days ago which means the holidays are here! There are tons of events and promotions around this time and some of them are long term. Here are a few things for all promotional models to remember when working during this busy season.

1. Don't overbook yourself. Money always sounds good but working 10 days in a row at 12 hours a day isn't good for anyone. Book wisely.


2. Make sure you leave earlier than usual, holiday season means everything is busier and there is more traffic.


3. Bring snacks, you will need your energy.


4. Make sure you have black pants because most promotions will ask you to wear these.


5. If you have to work outside wear as much as possible. Layers of socks, leggings, long sleeves, gloves, hats, hand warmers...anything you can think of.


6. Get lots of sleep, you will need a lot of patience during this time. It can get pretty crazy.


7. Save your money from the holiday season, things tend to slow down after this.

Great Week For Pink Avenue Models!

What a great week for Pink Avenue Models. We had great events and had awesome models working them. This past week we had models at the Great Bridal Expo in Rosemont. We also had models working at one of the biggest booths at the AHA at McCormick Place. On Wednesday we had Brittany, Holly and Kaylee working a street team promotion Downtown Chicago. This weekend we have models working the Great Bridal Expo in San Francisco and San Jose. What's next? We never know and we love it. We're looking forward to a busy 2011!

Great Bridal Expo - California

The Great Bridal Expo made a stop in Rosemont last Sunday and is making it's way to California this weekend. The Great Bridal Expo will take place in San Francisco this Saturday and San Jose on Sunday. Last weekend our Chicago models Apple, Kim, Holly and Sarah worked the event and this weekend we will have Mina and Rachel. Have fun girls, this is a fun promotion to work!

Busy Weekend For Our Chicago Models!

Usually things slow down after Summer but we are still extremely busy! This weekend we will have promotional models all over Chicago. We have 2 big events starting on Sunday.

We will have Pink Avenue Models at the Great Bridal Expo in Rosemont. This show has been going on for over 30 years and anyone planning a wedding should definitely go. The exhibitors are companies that provide anything you would need for your wedding including DJs, dance lessons, honeymoon, accessories, dresses, bakeries, rings, videography, reception locations, real estate agents and anything else you could think of. This show is a lot of fun and our models will have an amazing time.

We will also have models at the AHA show starting on Sunday. This show will take place at McCormick Place and will take place November 14-16. This show brings will have over 25,000 attendees and is geared towards the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease. Our models will be working as hostesses at one of the biggest booths of the trade show. Good luck girls!

A Models Question...

We get calls from our models or potential models almost everyday and we love it because we are here to help. Yesterday a model contacted me because she is having problems collecting money from another modeling agency that she worked for almost 9 months ago. This really upsets me because its not fair and there is really nothing you can do in this situation. Her situation was that she agreed to work an event for a set rate, the modeling agency paid her half and said that the client hasn't paid the full amount so they can not pay her the rest. She asked me if this was right and if there is anything that she could do.

My first question was what did the contract say, and of course this agency didn't send her paperwork and there was not a written agreement. Every agency is different but not paying your models is going to ruin your reputation. I told her if this happened to us, a client not paying, we would pay our models regardless. Our agency would lose money but at least our model gets the pay she deserves. Pink Avenue Models has contracts with their models and in those contracts the models have agreed to work for a certain amount of money and we owe it to them. Our models are our first priority along with our agency's reputation and not paying your talent is the fastest way to go out of business. As of right now she has tried everything, even has a lawyer involved and has had no luck. The most frustrating thing in this industry is fighting for the money that you earned.

This situation happens way to often in this industry. The best advice I can give to models is to work with agencies that you know and have worked with in the past and if you are working with a new agency do your research. Google is amazing and very helpful but the best way to find out about other companies is through other promotional models. We are all friends in this industry and here to help, if we have had a bad experience we love to share it with other models so it doesn't happen to them.

Pack Expo - Success!

Pink Avenue Models teamed up with a new client for the Pack Expo October 31-November 2 in Chicago. The models were hired to hand out the trade show daily newspaper to show attendees outside of their hotels. The models were stationed at 5 of Chicago's popular downtown hotels. Thanks to Linda, Erica, Inna, Kendra, Agata, Sunny and Nicole for working. The event started early and it was outside so thank you to all of you for being on time and handling the Chicago weather. Models - Please Read Before Submitting!

Pink Avenue Models gets tons of model submissions everyday, and as we've said before not everyone can be part of the Pink Avenue team. We expect our models to be experienced, fun, outgoing, reliable, smart and beautiful. When submitting your information online make sure you fill in all of the required fields and attach the necessary pictures and a resume. We ask for 1 head shot, 1 body shot, 1 candid photo and your favorite picture. We want a mix of professional pictures and a candid picture so we can see what you look like on a daily basis.

Try not to send us pictures that are extremely photo shopped! We want a head shot of you smiling, a body shot of you preferably fully dressed, nothing less than a bikini, a candid photo of you and only you, and then a picture that you love or are proud of. Please avoid sending candid photos with you and friends in them, we can never send that out. Also, we recommend keeping the lingerie pictures to yourself, we don't like sending those pictures to our clients it gives them the wrong idea.

If you have not had the chance to get professional photos taken I highly recommend it. You will get more work and will have something to send to modeling agencies. There are tons of photographers that will do TFP and it is the easiest way to start a portfolio.

AHA - Chicago! November 14-16.

Pink Avenue Models is staffing trade show models for the upcoming AHA in Chicago. This show will take place at McCormick Place November 14-16. The American Heart Association will have Scientific Sessions that are focused on 7 different cardiovascular cores. The purpose of these sessions are to teach show attendees about the new advances in treatment, prevention, and diagnosis of cardiovascular disease. There will be sessions for people to interact with experts , there will also be seminars and how to sessions. The goal is to leave the show with new knowledge about cardiovascular disease. This is a very informative show and will take over Chicago in a few weeks. We are expecting over 25,000 attendees! Thanks in advance to our Chicago models that have been chosen to work.

December Events!

It's already November, time flies when you are so busy! The weather man is already talking about snow this week so I guess it's time to get ready for a long winter. The outdoor promotions in Chicago have slowed down but there will be tons of promotions coming up because of the holidays. Right now we should be blogging about trade shows in December but I just found out that Chicago will not be hosting many shows next month. The good news is that we are getting calls for other events and have even been contacted for events in 2011. The Winter is usually slower in the city but so far things are looking good. Get ready for tons of Holiday promotions and corporate parties.

Automotive Testing Expo - Success!

I have to say thank you to our trade show model Ashley for working the Automotive Testing Expo in Novi, Michigan. Ashley worked this trade show 2 days this week and did an amazing job. Bad Boss? Bad Event? Stay Professional!

Promotional modeling is a fun job with tons of perks...models get paid well, have a flexible schedule, get to work exciting events, usually leave with free samples, meet tons of people and have fun while working. Most promotions are a great time with an amazing staff but I'm sure we have all worked an event with a boss that was less than nice. The type of person that is bossy, not fun, watches over you and complains about everything. I can relate and have been in this situation. This can take the fun out of the event and makes you not want to work. Promotions are meant to be fun and when the person in charge isn't having fun it's hard for the staff to have fun and be energized.

So what should you do if this happens? You definitely have the right to call the modeling agency that hired you and tell them what is happening on site. It's nice for the agency to hear your side, any modeling agency should always trust what their models say. If it is so bad that you hate working the event have the agency replace you. If you hate your event it will show to consumers and they don't deserve that. Do what you can to make the best of it and stay professional. Promotional models know what is expected of them, if you are getting out the brand messages, handing out the samples, have high energy and are smiling than you are doing your job.

Like anything in this world every promotion is not perfect, just do your best! Happy promoting!

Automotive Testing Expo - Novi, Michigan!

This show focuses on the latest automotive test and evaluation technology. This trade show will have over 200 exhibitors displaying their newest products. NYC Event - Tomorrow!

The staff at Pink Avenue Models is really excited for our event in New York tomorrow. It is one of the most exciting events we've been asked to staff. We have teamed up with a new client and they will be at the NASDAQ Opening Bell ceremony tomorrow. Our model will be dressed as a 50's waitress wearing roller skates, it goes with the clients theme. The Pink Avenue Process

The staff at Pink Avenue Models gets calls everyday from interested models. Everyone wants to know our process and how things work. It's quite simple. Pink Avenue Models is a Chicago based modeling agency that staffs mostly promotions, trade shows, street teams, and even print ads and some runway shows. We are capable of staffing any type event all over the country.

We accept all of our talent submissions online through our "Become a Model" page. Interested models are asked basic info and we require a head shot, body shot, favorite picture and candid photo from everyone. Our clients like to see a variety of pictures. Pink Avenue Models is selective, we are interested in having reliable, experienced and professional models on our team. Our models should be outgoing, attractive, fun and have to take their job seriously. Some agencies have databases of 20,000 people and that is something we will never do, with that said we do not accept everyone. We want our models to enjoy their job, show up on time which means 15 minutes early, and represent our clients to the best of their ability. If you feel like you meet these requirements please submit online, we look forward to working with you!

Another common question is...I'm always available to work but the client never chooses me, what can I do differently? Each client is looking for something different to represent their brand or company. Some clients want blondes, some want tall models, some want bilingual. No model is going to get picked for every event they are available for. This industry is very competitive, and some of the markets are huge meaning we can send 50+ models to a client for approval. Don't get discouraged, your day will come.

If a model backs out last minute, pulls a no call no show, gets a bad review from a client, walks off or does anything else unacceptable they will possibly be removed from our team. This is an industry full of excuses and each issue will be handled individually. I recommend working for what you signed up for and avoiding a bad reputation.

CFA, Chicago!

Congratulations to the models that just got booked for the CFA in Chicago! This is the 66th year for this show and it will take place October 20-22. This is a trade show for anyone that is interested in asset - based lending, software development, accounting, law, insurance, document retrieval and so much more. There are great sessions,lots of information on new products and services, and great speakers including George W. Bush. There will be tons of activities through out the trade show including a golf outing, silent auction, receptions, and even a show at the Steppenwolf. Enjoy this event and your visit to Chicago!

Thank You Chicago Models!!

Thank you to the 8 models that worked our radio promotion last night. Kristy, Amanda, Je Tuan, Erica, Elayne, Nida, Robin, and Alli roamed around Chicago during the biggest game of the season. ( I was cheering for Green Bay) These girls were wearing cute jerseys with the bodog and The Score 670 logos on them, these jerseys said...ask me for my number. That definitely grabbed some attention, not to mention the models arrived in a limo. On the back it had the numbers 67011 on it and the goal was to get as many people to text as possible. The winner of the contest will have dinner at Hub 51 with Matt Spiegel, enjoy a first class flight to NYC, hotel accommodations for 2 nights, tickets to a baseball game and tickets to watch the Chicago Bears take on New York. Sounds amazing right? The winner will be announced today! These girls went to some of the hottest spots in town handing out giveaways and encouraging people to text for their chance to win. Lets just say the event was a success!

Busy! Busy! Busy!

Wow, we have been so busy! Pink Avenue Models has had a lot of great new clients, and a ton of fun events.

Over the weekend we staffed 18 models in California for Axe Body Spray. We had a group in Santa Ana and a group in Los Angeles. These models promoted Axe by educating consumers and handing out samples at festivals. We did this same event in Chicago and Houston over the summer.

We also worked on another event for DKNY. This one was 11 days long and took place in Los Angeles, DC, San Jose, and New Jersey. These models work closely with the Macy's staff by promoting a new fragrance and encouraging consumers to buy the product.

This week we have Forex Network in Chicago. We did this event last year and the models had a lot of fun. It's a 2 day event downtown. We also are staffing the after party this year!

Kaylee and Ashley will be working a corporate party at one of the Cubs roof tops tomorrow. They are there to take pictures with the 200 attendees while wearing their favorite Chicago Cubs jerseys.

On September 27th we will have a street team of 11 models taking over Chicago. They are promoting a contest for a major radio station. These models will be out and about telling people how they can win a trip to New York to go to a football game and have dinner with some of the announcers. These models will be dressed to kill and hard to miss.

In early October Kasia will be working at the National Bridal Market. This is a great show and one that women really look forward to attending. Kasia will be modeling a line of dresses.

We also have models working at the AAO show in mid October. These models will be scene in their classy gowns.

Those are some of the events we have coming up. We are in the process of casting models for some great future events. The staff at Pink Avenue Models is excited for a busy Fall!

Always Show Up For Your Shift!

The promotional modeling industry can be amazing! Models get to work at new places, with new people, promoting new products and getting free stuff all while having fun and getting paid. This industry is flexible and models book their own schedules and sometimes take it less serious then they should. This is still a job and even a career for some.

The worst thing a model can do in this industry is pull a no call no show. If a model does this they are immediately put on the modeling agency's black list and will not be asked to work for them again. A model that does this makes the modeling agency look bad, and can possibly ruin the promotion which makes the client upset. Some of these events take months of planning and if the talent isn't there to help activate the event doesn't go as planned. We all know that things come up, if you are sick, had an emergency or just don't feel like working that day you should always let the agency know.

You never want to be on bad terms with anyone in this industry. Reputation is everything so make sure you have a great one!

Pack Expo 2010!

Pack Expo 2010 is coming to Chicago at the end of October and the team at Pink Avenue Models has already started casting models. The Pack Expo is an annual event for the packaging and processing industry. There will be over 1,600 exhibitors in 1.1 million square feet of space. This is the trade show to attend for the latest packaging technology. The Pack Expo will be taking over McCormick Place October 31-November 3. It takes place in the Lakeside Center, North Building and South Building...It's a huge show!

Fiestas Patrias Houston!

A couple weeks ago Pink Avenue Models teamed up with a new client for the Fiesta del Sol in Chicago. We had a team of 8 models representing a well known brand for the whole weekend. Our models educated consumers on the product, handed out samples and had a great time. Were teaming up with the same client for another festival in Houston next weekend! Our models will be working the Fiestas Patrias event next weekend and we are very excited.

Fiestas Patrias means patriotic holidays or national holidays. It originated in Mexico in the 19th century and is observed as 5 public holidays. This event with have tons of vendors exhibiting art, amazing food, games, and live music. Its one of the biggest events in Texas and celebrates the Hispanic community. This party takes place September 5th and is free!

Pink Avenue Models will be all over this fest handing out samples, talking to consumers, looking great and having fun.

Pink Avenue Models Update!

It's time for another Pink Avenue Models update! Summer is almost over and we are very sad about it but excited for a busy fall. As of right now we have models booked for VM World in San Francisco, AAO, National Bridal Market and Forex Network 2010 in Chicago. We are also working on an ongoing street team promotion in Chicago for a fun and exciting new client. VMWorld 2010! San Francisco!

Pink Avenue Models is working with a new client and staffing models for the upcoming VMWorld at the Moscone Center. VMWorld will take place August 30 - September 2. There will be over 200 companies showcasing the newest products and services. This year there will be over 170 breakout sessions and 30+ labs, and numerous networking events. This is a very educational trade show and great for anyone that is interested in the IT related industry.

Pink Avenue Models Expectations!

Pink Avenue Models received hundreds of model submissions every week. Unfortunately we can't add everyone to the Pink Avenue team. We are always looking for beautiful, intelligent and outgoing models. If you feel you meet our requirements we would love to have you as part of our team! Here are a few things that we expect from all of our models.

1. We expect our models to show up on time and ready to work. Dressed and hair and make up ready. On time is always 15 minutes early! Make sure you have the attire needed for the promotion.


2. Our models are expected to represent the brand they are working for the best they can. This means always remaining positive, happy and relaying the brand message to potential consumers. Promotional models should never have anything negative to say about the brand they are promoting or any of their competitors.


3. Pink Avenue Models are required to send in their paperwork before the event and any parking receipts immediately after the event. Any model that is booked through us is expected to return any phone calls or emails. We send important information like training documents or product info that you will need for a successful event.


4. Our models are expected to remain professional but fun at all events at all times. Remember that you are there for work so save the gossiping and problems in your life at home.


5. Always have fun and smile! You are lucky to have such a fun job so enjoy it.

IGC 2010! Chicago!

Pink Avenue Models is teaming up with a new client for the IGC show coming to Chicago. The Independent Garden Center Show will take place at Navy Pier early next week. This is the 4th year for this show and it just keeps getting bigger. There will be over 600 suppliers at this show exhibiting thousands of new products. They are expecting over 6,000 attendees, 5 acres of displays, better entertainment, and bigger parties then ever before. This is a great show to attend and will be a fun one for our models to work. Thank You Axe Angels!

Pink Avenue Models teamed up with a new client over the weekend and the event was amazing! We had 8 of our models at the Fiesta del Sol festival over the weekend. The Axe Angles were there to educate consumers on the brand, pass out samples, take pictures, and entertain the crowd. The girls did a great job! I had the chance to stop by the event and catch the Angels in action. They were the busiest booth the whole day and handed out 10,000 samples! IMTS 2010!

IMTS is coming back to McCormick Place September 13-18 and we are already getting calls for models. This is one of the biggest trade shows to come to Chicago and one of the biggest industrial shows in the world. The International Manufacturing Technology Show has over 1,100 exhibitors and over 92,000 attendees coming from 113 different countries. This trade show comes to Chicago every 2 years in September and lasts 6 days! All of the exhibitors will take up 1.2 million net square feet of exhibit space and there will be over 15,000 new machine tools ,controls, computers, software and anything else that can improve the efficiency. This show takes place in all of the halls and is busy all 6 days. There will be Pink Avenue Models all over the place!

Fiesta del Sol 2010! July 29 - August 1.

Pink Avenue Models is teaming up with a new client for the Fiesta del Sol festival 2010. This event will take place in Chicago July 29-August 1 and is the 38th annual. Fiesta del Sol is an annual fundraising event organized by the PNCC. This started off as a small block party and is now a nationally publicized event. The difference between this festival and other festivals is that it is alcohol and tobacco free.

Some of the sponsors for this year's event are Alivio Medical Center, Hoy, State Farm, Monster, Sunny D, 103.5 Kiss FM, Axe, Dove and so many more. This fest is going to full of great food and awesome entertainment. If you are in Chicago make sure you attend!

DKNY Event - Done!

For the past 11 days Pink Avenue Models worked closely with one of our favorite clients promoting a new fragrance by DKNY. This event took place in 4 different malls across the country. We staffed models in Los Angeles, Houston, DC, and New York. Our models worked long hours and a lot of days and we are so grateful and appreciate their hard work. The models were there to educate consumers about the new fragrance and encourage them to buy the product. We had almost 40 models working the last 11 days so thanks to all of you!
