Do You Know Your Measurements?

This is something that a lot of promotional models do not know. Pink Avenue Models gets model submissions all the time and the measurements are wrong or say N/A. Models must know their measurements! This helps modeling agencies and clients know what size you are. All you need is a measuring tape and a helping hand. This will be one of the best things that you have done in your modeling career.

* Bust measurement. The model should have her arms at her side, place the tape around the fullest part of your chest under your arms. This will be your chest measurement. You will get the best measurements wearing just a bra.

* Waist measurement. Measure around your waist which is around your belly button on top of your hip bone, it will be on the side of your torso.

* Hip Measurement. Stand with your feet together, and measure around the fullest part of your body between your waist and your knees. Your hips will be about 8 inches below your waist.

Whenever a modeling agency or client asks for your measurements make sure you do it in the right order, chest, waist, and then hips. The average model is 34-24-34.

Only 5 Models Remain...

Last night ANTM wasn't as full of drama and tension. It seems like for the most part the remaining 6 models got along extremely well. The models left Los Angeles and went to the beautiful state Hawaii!

While in Hawaii the models challenge was to learn how to surf. This was to teach the models about balance and poise. The photo shoot challenge was a bit difficult. The models had to surf with a male model and get awesome pictures. The photographer for this challenge was Erik Aeder. Erin did so well on this challenge and was the challenge winner which meant that her and 2 of her model friends got to go on a helicopter tour of Hawaii.

Later on in the episode the models got to shoot with Tyra for the 2nd time this season. The models were placed in sugar cane fields and had to portray 2 different races. This was a tough shoot and most of the models struggled. Nicole and Sundai did great and Nicole won the best photo. Every week someone is sent home and this week it was Brittany's turn which means only 5 models remain. Remember the winner of this season wins a modeling contract with one of the biggest modeling agencies in the world. Who will win? My guess is Nicole!

Next week Marissa Miller will teach the models about posing. Make sure you watch next Wednesday, the competition is almost over.

10 Items Every Model Should Own

Pink Avenue Models staffs a lot of trade shows nationwide. We always try and give tips to trade show models including general information and wardrobe. Promotional models should own black pants, a black skirt, khaki pants/shorts, a pair of gym shoes, and comfortable heels. I found an article that gives 10 wardrobe essentials that every model should own, do you own these items?

1. Trench coat. This works perfectly with dresses.

2. White collared, button down shirt. This is a requirement for many trade shows.

3. Work pants in a neutral color, black or grey. Make sure they fit great! Most promotions will ask the models to wear black dress pants.

4. Black turtleneck. Very classy but sexy, nice for layering too.

5. Perfect fitting jeans. Most promotions will not allow models to wear jeans but that doesn't mean you shouldn't have the perfect pair for when you are not working. You can get the perfect pair for under $50.

6. LBD. Yes, the little black dress. This is perfect for a night out with the girls, weddings, interviews and any other event. Make sure you have one!

7. Daytime dress. Something cute, not too dressy.

8. Blazer. This is a nice thing for models to wear at trade shows because the convention center is usually freezing. Get a cute fitted one.

9. Pencil skirt. This is something that can be worn at many events and trade shows. Pair it with a button down shirt or v-neck sweater.

10. Black heels. These are mandatory and a great investment. Get a comfortable pair with at least a 3 inch heel. You should buy a pair with a closed toe so you can wear them year round.

Do you own these 10 items? If not start shopping!

Modeling Industry Gossip

What is going on in the modeling industry this month? So much!!

* Model Heidi Klum had her fourth child and is launching her own clothing line! The name of the line has not been released yet.

* Alina Puscau graced the cover of Playboy.

* My favorite VS supermodel visited Chicago to open a new Victoria’s Secret store on Michigan Avenue. She has also been chosen to wear the Harlequin Fantasy Bra. This bra is made out of 2,300 diamonds and will be the main feature at this years fashion show. This bra costs around 3 Million dollars!

* Naomi Campbell is speaking out. She thinks that there are not as many African American or Asian models as there should be. Naomi thinks that there are too many opportunities for blonde, blue eyed models and not enough for non-white models.

* Gisele Bunchen is expecting a daughter in December with her adorable husband Tom Brady.

* Ralph Lauren released 2 completely photoshopped images making models look incredibly skinny. One of the models says that she was fired for not being able to fit in the clothes anymore. She only weighed 120 pounds.

* Miranda Kerr is creating an organic skin care collection called Kora.

That is a quick break down of the model gossip this month. Make sure you read our blog daily, you never know what we will write about. It could be about model gossip, fashion, beauty secrets, modeling agencies, or events & trade shows that our promotional models are working. Whatever it is I try to make it exciting!

Another Pink Avenue Models Press Release

Pink Avenue Models has issued another press release! Our last one was an introduction about the company and how the company works. This press release is about trade show and trade show models since we book trade shows a lot. Models and clients can both learn from this press release and understand what is expected from a trade show model. Enjoy!

Pink Avenue Models: Trade Show Models

A trade show model is hired by a client, through a modeling agency, to help represent a company to attendees. Here are a few facts and tips you should know about a trade show model:

1. Trade show models are usually hired for their looks. There are a lot of promotions that are less focused on looks to represent their product but trade showexhibitors want professional beautiful girls with nice figures. Trade show models are also known as booth babes.

2. Trade show models do not work directly for the company but have to learn about the products and services that the company offers very quickly. Trade show models are a main attraction at the booth and have to know the answers to simple questions.

3. Trade show models should show up to the trade show dressed to impress. When working as a trade show model you are looked at as the face of the company.

4. Trade show models should smile and say hello to everyone that you see. Models are hired to attract people to the booth, stopping them as they walk by is a sure way to get them to come in and talk to the sales team.

5. Trade show models should always bring a change of shoes. Standing in heels for 8, 9, or 10 hours is going to be painful. Bring flats or comfortable shoes to change into while on your break or after your shift.

6. Trade show models should own a black dress, black blazer, black pencil skirt and comfortable but sexy heels. These are the most requested outfits for trade show models. Some clients ask for something different or provide the outfit but usually it’s something conservative but sexy.

7. Trade show models…don’t lose your badge. This is what gets you in the show day after day. Make sure you have it each time you leave the convention center so you can get back in.

8. Trade show models should always offer to help the client with anything they may need. This doesn’t mean staying hours after the show to take down the booth but it does mean general assistance.

Trade shows can be a lot of fun and models are there to assist the client. Trade show models are hired because they are beautiful, intelligent and outgoing. These are the qualities all clients can expect from a trade show model.

Pink Avenue Models hires the best trade show models in various cities nationwide, including Chicago, New York, Miami, Orlando, Atlanta, Dallas, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego and more! Contact Pink Avenue Models to book your trade show models for your next event.
