The Double Standard Has Invaded Our Industry

More drama in the modeling industry! I am actually a little annoyed about this one. We live in an unfair world already, the whole double standard thing that is not fair for women... women get paid less, women do the same thing as guys but when they do it they get negative feedback, we all know what I'm talking about. This time the issue is plus size model vs model and it's unfair.

There is a Lane Bryant commercial that some stations won't play because they say that it is too revealing. Have we not all seen the Victoria's Secret commercials that are the exact same thing only with smaller models? Some stations said they couldn't air the commercials because the cleavage was excessive, it was to risque and racy. Lane Bryant is upset because Victoria's Secret ads are being aired in time slots that they were denied.

Most women would love to see the Lane Bryant ads, they can relate to them and feel good about themselves. It is so annoying for full figured women to always have to see ads of models that are a size 0-2, it's unrealistic. The average woman in America is a size 12-14 so why can't they show that on TV? Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes!

IRCE 2010 - Chicago!

We have been casting and booking models all week for the upcoming IRCE Show at McCormick Place. The Internet Retailer Conference & Expo (IRCE) will be taking over Chicago June 8-11. This is the largest E Commerce event and will have over 6,000 attendees, over 400 exhibitors and 175 speakers. This show will have tons of sessions and workshops for the show attendees. The IRCE show only had 45 booths in 2005 but will have 551 this year and will be even bigger next year. We are excited to have models at this trade show!

Promotional Model Health Tips

Summer is near which means shorts, tank tops, bikinis and little dresses. We have been hidden behind jeans, sweaters and layers all winter so are we really ready for summer clothing? Models should always be ready but may have slacked off during this long Chicago winter. I found a great article that talks about foods that will get you that flat stomach so you are bikini ready. Some promotions this summer will require our models to wear bikinis and we want to make sure everyone is looking good and feeling confident.

Eat these foods for a flatter stomach fast!

1. Blueberries


2. Asparagus


3. Salmon


4. Watermelon


5. Citrus Fruits

Try to avoid these items, they will give you a bloated look.

1. Alcohol, especially beer


2. Soy sauce


3. Canned soup


4. Popcorn


5. Dried fruit

Pink Avenue Models Update

This year is off to a great start, the team at Pink Avenue Models has been extremely busy. So, what have we been up to?

• We booked female and male models for a very popular liquor brand in Miami for the Super Bowl.


• We staffed male models for the NBA All Star game in Dallas.


• Hired models for the AHR Expo in Orlando.


• Booked models for LMT in Chicago.


• Had amazing clients at the IHA in Chicago.


• We had trade show models in costumes at C2E2 over the weekend.


• Had promotional models at the biggest music festival in Miami.


• Booked bilingual models for a convention in Los Angeles.


• Held a casting call for models in LA. We were looking for a lead actress.


• Already have models booked in Orlando next month with one of our favorite clients.


• Booked CDA in Los Angeles for mid May.


• Getting ready for an exciting street team event next weekend in Las Vegas.

Pink Avenue Models In The Chicago Sun Times!!

As we all know C2E2 was in Chicago over the weekend and it had an amazing turnout! The show made it's debut at McCormick Place and lasted 3 days. This show brought in celebrities and tons of costumed fans, not to mention all of the comic books, movies, action figures and anything new in the comic book world. This show pretty much took over the city of Chicago starting with the party on Thursday night and ending on Sunday with more parties. I have to thank all of our Pink Avenue Models for working, you were amazing! These girls were so hot over the weekend that they made it into the Chicago Sun Times! C2E2 Starts Tomorrow!!

The staff at Pink Avenue Models is really excited about this show and so is the city of Chicago. There was a 2 page article in the Red Eye today and it said that they are expecting over 30,000 attendees which would make this just as big as ComicCon in New York. This is the first year for C2E2 and they are doing it big! There will be tons of celebrities that will be doing signings and taking pictures and the cast of Kick Ass will also be there. If you haven't bought your tickets yet there is still time, they are $25 online and will be $30 on site. You do not want to miss this show, there will be tons of costumes, tons of action, exciting events and huge after parties. C2E2 will take over Chicago starting tonight with the pre party. We will have tons of pictures of our models and the whole show for you on Monday. Enjoy!

Model Submissions - What To Do And What Not To Do

Pink Avenue Models gets tons of model submissions every day which we love. We are a modeling agency and can't accept everyone, we look for beautiful, smart, outgoing, experienced models. We get a lot of submissions that are not filled out how we want them. Today I want to make a little list of what to do and what not to do when submitting your profile on our website. Please follow these tips for a better chance of becoming a Pink Avenue Model.

DO NOT DO...

1. Don't upload blurry pictures


2. Don't upload pictures that don't show your face. Your face is what sells you in this industry!


3. Don't try to submit fast and skip important areas. We are asking for all of your information for a reason, we need it.


4. Don't upload 4 of the same picture, we can't do anything with that.


5. Don't send naked pictures, we would never send that to a client.


6. Don't put your model name on the form, we need your real name.


7. Don't send pictures of yourself with friends in it drunk at a bar.


8. Don't send pictures with huge logos on them, we want to show you not the photographers logo.

DO THIS...

1. Do follow the submission page and fill in the required information correctly.


2. Do upload 4 pictures, 1 head shot, 1 body shot, 1 favorite picture and 1 candid picture.


3. Do upload a promotional resume with all of your modeling experience, not your career resume of unrelated jobs.


4. Do tell the truth, I need your real height and weight, your real address and information.


5. Do send your best and most recent pictures. Pictures from 4 years ago will not work.

This is the modeling industry and we are picky about what models we work with. We want reliable models that take their work seriously. Please take the time to submit your online profile and do it correctly. We are always looking for female and male models to work promotions, trade shows, street teams, print, and anything else that comes our way.
