Why You Can't Wear White After Labor Day

I never understood why we aren't supposed to wear white after Labor Day. Labor day was yesterday so I thought I should find out the meaning behind this rule. Lets just say that this rule was created a long time ago and doesn't matter anymore. I love white and will wear it year round and promotional models should do the same.
