MBA's Annual Convention & Expo will be coming to Chicago in October. This is the perfect show to network with some of the best in the industry. Some of the attendees will include people from upper management from leading corporations, national and regional lenders, full service mortgage companies, mortgage brokers & conduits, service providers, affordable housing groups, and state and local association groups. People from all over the country will gather in downtown Chicago at the Hyatt October 21-23. Forex Network Chicago!

Forex Network is back in Chicago and will be taking place at the Swissotel this year. This event will take over the Swissotel on September 27 and 28. This is a great chance to network with senior - level people in the industry, listen to great speakers, and to learn about new FX trends. Pack Expo 2012 - Chicago

The Pack Expo is coming back to Chicago, yay! This trade show will be taking place at McCormick Place October 28-31. We are excited to be staffing models for this event again. This is the largest trade show for the processing and packaging industry. This is another amazing show that is coming to Chicago, we love this city!

Avoid These 14 Things For Clear Skin

The team at Pink Avenue Models loves doing research on new trends, beauty secrets, shopping and anything else that our promotional models may be interested in. Today we found an article that I feel is important and helpful. A models face is something that grabs attention so clear skin is a must. Here is a list of bad habits, if you are doing any of these stop asap. These things are aging you, making you break out, and preventing you from having the best skin possible. Do Not...

1. Skip sunscreen.
2. Smoke.
3. Drink. (occasionally is fine, excessively is not)
4. Use the wrong products for you skin type.
5. Use dirty make up brushes
6. Press your phone against your face. It's so dirty!
7. Overexfoliate.
8. Skip Sleep.
9. Sleep with make up on.
10. Eat a ton of junk food. Bad for your skin and your body.
11. Pick at your skin.
12. Forget to exercise.
13. Go tanning.
14. Use too many products. Keep your routine simple.

This is a short list of things that can cause skin issues, so try and avoid them.

Help Pink Avenue Models Out! 10 Easy Steps!

The team at Pink Avenue Models is always busy staffing events all over the country. We love working with all of our promotional models and clients and it can be very time consuming, and we are ok with that. There are a couple things that our talent can do to make things easier for us. These things are simple and they are better for you and us. Let's all help each other out!

1. Turn in your paperwork on time. We need this before your event, we use it as an agreement between us and we need it to pay you on time. Make sure you fill it all out, skipping your SS# means we can't pay you, giving us an incomplete contract means we will ask you to do it again.
2. Send us updated pictures if you have them. It's hard for us to book you when your pictures are years old. Not to mention you would show up looking nothing like your pictures. We don't need professional pictures, candid ones would be just fine. Just make sure you are the only person in them, and that it is current and appropriate.
3. If something comes up and you have to cancel, or will be late, or just don't feel like working make sure you CALL your agency contact. Emails are an easy way to back out and will not be tolerated. Email is an easy way to lie and kind of just proves that your excuse isn't true.
4. If you are available for an event please do not call and tell us. Respond to the email and we will submit you to the client, as always the client always makes the final decision. Since we contact a large amount of talent, we can not tell everyone that they were not selected, we only contact the models that were picked.
5. Please do not forward our castings or post them on social media websites. We are picky about who we work with and add people to our database based on pictures, resumes, and experience. The worst thing is getting emails from people saying they are available and we have no information from them. It's a waste of time for everyone.
6. Show up to your event on time, which means 15 minutes early. Come hair and make up ready in proper attire and work the best you can.
7. If there are any issues or you have any questions always call your agency contact, never ask the client. You are working directly for us so we are the only ones that can help you. The only time you should call the client is when you have arrived to the event and need to locate them.
8. We pay 3 weeks after the events last day which is quite fast in this industry. Please do not ask if we can pay you before that or ask where your check is. We are very good about paying our talent, you worked and we want to pay you on time.
9. Sometimes our clients reimburse for parking, sometimes they don't. You will be notified if the client for your event is reimbursing, and it will be in your contract. If the client is paying for parking you need to fax or email and scan your receipts to us asap!
10. Please do not call and ask questions that you can figure out yourself. Examples would be parking, directions, if there is construction or street closings, how traffic is. We book events all over the country and the only city I know well is Chicago. These are all things that can be googled or found on your gps. We are busy and here to help our models with important things but these minor things are things for you to figure out.

Busy Schedule? Don't Stress

The promotional modeling world can be awesome! We get to work fun trade shows, special events, get into every bar in the city for a liquor promotion, meet famous people, get VIP access and not to mention we represent amazing brands and get tons of free stuff. Everything has a downside and being overbooked and stressed are some of the downfalls to this industry. We think about work and how fun it will be and then we book ourselves all weekend, all week, sometimes multiple times a day. If that doesn't stress you out add paperwork, recaps, uploading pictures, being in traffic, making sure you have the right attire, and remembering to stop and eat on top of a busy schedule. STRESS! I found an article that includes ways to relieve stress, everyone has their own methods but here are some recommendations. Remember to just breath!

1. Have alone time. You need a break from people and need to do what makes you happy.
2. Write your schedule down and keep it with you. Then you will never forget or mix things up.
3. Try yoga. There are so many different types out there, do what works best for you.
4. Have a night out. Just don't talk or think about work, and make sure you don't stay out to late and miss your morning event.
5. Laugh. Watch a funny movie or call your entertaining friend.
6. Go for a long walk. Observe everything around you.
7. Listen to music, this is the easiest thing for anyone to do.
8. Have a relaxation day, get a massage, mani & pedi, haircut. You deserve to be spoiled!
9. Plan a mini vacation, this will keep you sane and give you a break from your busy schedule.
10. Take a nap, if possible. Otherwise make sure you get plenty of sleep at night.

There is a list of 10 easy stress relievers, try them all! Keep in mind when you are booking work not to over do it. Clients don't want tired, worn out models they want people with tons of energy. Make sure you leave time for yourself, we want our staff healthy and happy. Team Pink Avenue
