Trade Show Expectations

Fall is here and there are tons of big trade shows coming up. Trade shows are a bit different than street teams, or other promotions. Trade show models are hired to be the face of the company and act as an employee of the company they are representing during the trade show. These models are hired to attract attendees to the booth, interact with them and inform them of general product knowledge, then hand them over to the sales team. Trade show models usually work between 3-10 days with each show day being between 7-10 hours long. The attire for trade show models is usually pretty conservative, black dresses, blazers and pencil skirts but occassionally can be something fun and crazy. All trade shows are different depending on the industry but the same rules apply no matter what.

Models should arrive on time which means 15 minutes early dressed and ready to work.

Models are there to help the client with whatever they need.

Models will receive a lunch break and possibly 2 short breaks depending on the hours of the show but other then that models should spend as much time at the booth as possible.

Models are required to turn in their model contracts, W-9 Forms, and any other paperwork before the event. Models should also study any material that is sent to them about the company they are representing.

If you are working with another model, remember you girls are there to work. Save the gossiping for a night out.

Remember to never discuss pay with other models or clients, and remember booking directly with a client is against your contract.

Only check your phones on break. You can not play on your phone while working!

No matter what you are hired to be the face of the company and you have to be happy and smiling the whole time. We all have things come up but don't focus on them while working. You are getting paid well, deal with it after.

Here are a few tips for models looking to work trade shows.

Get as much sleep as possible. As I said earlier, trade shows are long hours of standing and being tired makes it so much harder.

Bring flat shoes to change into. Wearing these during your lunch, breaks and after the show can really help. Your feet will need a rest.

Bring food with you. Convention centers usually don't have many options and the options they do have are not good or healthy.

Leave early. Parking is expensive at convention centers so street parking where available is hard to find. Go early, find a spot and save money.

Trade shows can be a lot of fun and great money. If you are interested in working as a trade show model with us please submit your information on our website, http://www.pinkavenuemodels.com/becomeamodel.php we look forward to working with you!
