Survival Tips for Promotional Models

I have worked in the promotional modeling industry for a while now, longer than most. I have worked as a promotional model at trade shows, events, street teams, and just about any other type of event there is. I have also worked at 2 agencies and have been part of everything this industry has to offer. We love what we do and are so lucky to work in this industry. We need promotional models, as many as we can find. We want to help you get booked with us and other modeling agencies across the country. Here are a couple things that we look for when it comes to adding promotional models to our database.

1. Be professional. This includes everything from your email address to your pictures and resume. We want our clients to have the best models for their events.
2. Watch what you say on your social media pages and on the job forum pages. We see everything.
3. Be reliable. We understand that things happen but since we do work in a flakey industry we don't believe every excuse that we hear.
4. Don't bother the agency. We receive a ton of calls and emails every day and try to answer all of them. Unfortunately we have no say in who our clients choose for their events, they always pick.
5. Be promo model ready. This means have black pants, a business suit, flats, heels, and khakis. These are basic uniforms for events.

Busy Season Has Arrived!

As we all know Spring has finally arrived! It is 72 degrees in Chicago today and we couldn't be more excited. Warmer weather brings more events to this city. The team at Pink Avenue Models is earing up for a busy Spring/Summer full of events. High Heels Can Cause Serious Damage

Heels hurt our feet but I don't know if promotional models know how bad heels are for them. Most trade shows and promotions require wearing heels, street teams and some other events allow flats. I remember wearing 5 inch heels while working trade shows because that was all that I had, now I look for the smallest heel I can find and dread wearing them. Heels can cause permanent damage and are not only bad for your feet but can also cause problems through your legs and back. The Best Of New York Fashion Week!

Pink Avenue Models is primarily a promotional modeling agency. We staff promotional models for trade shows, events, promotions, corporate parties, street teams and anything else that is requested by our clients. Well, almost anything else, we do have rules here! Most of the trade shows have a high percentage of male attendees, so do a lot of events. I found this article and thought it was interesting. The team at Pink Avenue Models has had a great year and an extremely busy Fall. We are fortunate to work with some of the best promotional models in the country and we appreciate all of them. Lose Those Extra Winter Pounds

It's going to be almost 5o degrees in Chicago today, I can't believe it! It's rainy but 50 degrees still feels amazing. This weather has me thinking of Spring, then Summer and that comes with the dreadful word... bikini. A lot of us have probably gained a few Winter pounds, especially here in the Midwest. Don't worry, it's really easy to lose those pounds, you just have to cut out a few things from your diet. These things are things you shouldn't consume regularly anyways. When I hear the word model I think gorgeous, glamorous, rich, tall, and famous. After working in this industry I have learned that I am completely wrong. Yes, there are supermodels that fit my description but there aren't many. Pink Avenue Models is a promotional modeling agency that staffs events, trade shows, street teams, promotions and other types of events nationwide. Our database consists of models that have done print, video, commercials and other types of work but we also have promotional models that have candid pictures and marketing degrees. Winter Has Arrived. It's FREEZING!

It is FREEZING here in Chicago and most of the country as well. Promotions usually go on no matter what the weather is so we want to make sure our promotional models are staying warm out there. There is nothing we can do to change the weather but make sure you show up to your event prepared. Remember to wear layers. Wear whatever you can fit under your clothes that are required for the event. Bring hand warmers and stick them in your shoes, gloves, and where ever else they can go. Wear layers of socks, having cold and numb feet is uncomfortable. Make sure that you take breaks and warm up, take care of yourself. Drink warm liquids, tea, coffee, hot chocolate. Try and stay out of the wind if possible. If you know you are going to be miserable outside please do not sign up for outdoor promotions or street team events. Diet vs Exercise

We all know how important our diet and exercise are but we also know how difficult it is to be healthy with busy schedules. No Call No Show = Worst Thing To Do

Our blogs are usually about events that we have coming up or about tips to make our promotional models more prepared. We usually talk about trade shows, events, street teams, promotions and anything else going on in the industry but today we are going to vent about promotional models. We understand that this industry is flexible and that you make your own schedules, everyone is an independent contractor. We appreciate all of the promotional models that are reliable, responsible, and live up to their responsibilities. We HATE the models that fill out their paperwork, confirm that they are all set to work, and then the day of they just don't show up. Not only do they not show up but they don't even respond when we reach out to them, maybe being ignored is better than a fake excuse. The reason we bring this up is because the weather is getting warmer and people would rather do fun things then work, and that is fine, just don't agree to work then. There is nothing worse for the modeling agency and client then a no call no show. Clients rely on us to provide staff for their events and all of our clients select who they would like to book so it isn't easy to just find any replacement. A model that doesn't show up ruins that relationship with our client. Not showing up to work is a very selfish thing to do and not only does it cost the agency money but it ruins our relationships and can make us lose clients as well. It is THE worst thing a models can do. Please think about this the next time you just don't feel like working. Tell the agency something came up so they can find a replacement and replace you with someone that actually wants to work. Just so you know you will be banned from the agency and if you do this to a lot of modeling agencies you wont be able to find work. Sorry for the vent but it's annoying for us!

Busy Season Is Here!

Pink Avenue Model's Pet Peeve

I have been working in this industry for about 10 years and would like to think that I have experienced most situations. The team at Pink Avenue Models has heard every excuse of why a model couldn't show up for work, we have had amazing events and some that did not go as planned. We staff events, trade shows, street teams, corporate parties and everything in between. We love our job and enjoy it but there is one thing that really bothers us and it's out of our control. Yes, we book promotional models all over the country but we can't be at every event. How the model performs on site is one of our biggest worries. We want to make sure they show up on time, dressed and ready to work. We don't want them to complain, embarrass us or the client. This is why we are so picky about who we hire and add to our database. We want gorgeous, professional, reliable, outgoing talent that take their job seriously. There is nothing worse then confirming with a model 2 days prior to their event and hearing, "oh sorry, I woke up sick and won't be able to work" or "family emergency" or any other excuse, we have heard them all. With all of this said please keep it in mind when you are booked with our modeling agency or any other company. Once you back out, don't show, or perform badly the agency will probably ban you. It would be stupid for us to let you make us look bad more then once.

Promo Models - Lose Those Winter Pounds!

The people of Chicago can relate when I say I am so happy that Winter is almost over. I am ready to be outside, on the beach, lunch on a patio, and ready to wear Spring colors, no more black! With warm weather comes less clothing and let's be honest some of us have gained a few pounds over this long and cold Winter. Warm weather also means a busy season for us and all of our promotional models. Trade shows, events, promotions, and street teams will all start picking up in the next month. If you feel the need to eat healthier, lose a few pounds or just tone up here are a couple easy tips, enjoy!
