My Social Media Complaint
The team at Pink Avenue Models doesn't usually post on social media websites to find promotional models. We like to hire talent that has submitted on our website, been approved and added to our database. We look for models that have experience and great pictures that we can forward on to our clients. With all of this said we are aware of all of the groups on facebook and I noticed something while looking through the pages the other day.
I saw a ton of postings which is great if that is how modeling agencies want to find their staff. What bothered me was the comments from the promotional models looking for work. The main comment that bothered me was "I applied but they never responded." This bothered me because they don't understand how many emails the modeling agency receives a day. I would say on an average day I receive at least 100 emails/phone calls. We try to respond to everyone, especially if its about an event, payment, or questions that you may have. When it comes to castings we can not respond to everyone that is available for the event. Our process is reaching out to our staff, sending pictures and stats of available models to our client, then contacting the models that the client has selected. It would be impossible for us to reach out to everyone that wasn't selected, it's just how this industry works. My recommendation for commenting on social media is either don't do it or keep it simple and positive.
I hope you all are having a busy Fall and a busy trade show season!

Promotional Models, Please Keep It Professional
I have worked in this industry for many years, I have been the promotional model and I have been the person at the modeling agency staffing events. I've seen a little bit of everything and there are some things I just don't understand. A couple things that you should think about if you want to work in the promotional modeling industry or if you already do work in this industry here are a few things you should change.
- Your email address should be semi professional and not from high school. Try to keep it simple, your name works best. There is nothing more shocking than some of the email addresses that I have seen. My goodness!
- Unfortunately the internet is not private and a lot of work is now booked online. Keep your facebook profile picture classy. The pictures we see are appalling sometimes. I wonder.. how would this person ever get booked! Again, your facebook should be under your name, we don't want to see an inappropriate name.
- Speaking of names, tell us your real name! This is work, there will be legal contracts involved. The most annoying thing for us is dealing with "model names" and this happens often. I hate sending a contract to a model and getting a response that says "sorry, that isn't my legal name, can you change it?"
- Fill out your paperwork correctly! Don't beg me for your check that we sent to the wrong address because you filled out your W9 wrong. We use echo sign, it's the easiest way to fill out paperwork. Please pay attention.
- Please be professional onsite. Show up on time, interact with attendees, know your brand facts, have manners, and work as hard as you can. You were hired for a reason.

#1 Thing NOT To Do In This Industry
After 10 years of working in this industry I will never understand one thing, why people back out last minute, no call no show, or cancel half way through an event. I would think that promotional models would take things serious and that they would want money, this is your job. Let me explain AGAIN what happens when a promotional models wakes up and doesn't feel like going to work.
- The client is upset and the plan for their event set up has to be restructured. They booked you, and planned on having you there to assist. You didn't show up so now the roles and responsibilities that were yours have to be given to someone else.
- You failed to show up and the clients plan has changed. Automatically the modeling agency that staffed you loses that client, loses money, and earns a bad reputation because of your laziness. Although the agency had a contract with the model and the model agreed to be there, it still comes down on us. Why would a company hire an agency again when they had a bad experience.
- So you ruined the event, the modeling agency lost a client and money, and now you are banned from the agency. The thing about this is the model doesn't care because there are so many agencies to work with. However, this industry is small and once you're known as the girl that doesn't show up you will not be booked by anyone.

No Call No Shows/Last Minute Cancellations
I know I have blogged about this before but every time it happens I blog about it again. This is any modeling agencies pet peeve, most hated thing and a way to ruin our day. Yes, I am talking about no call no shows and last minute cancellations . I am proud to say that this doesn't happen often but in my 10 years of experience I have seen it way to many times.
I myself was a promotional model and still work events occasionally because I love this industry. I love meeting new people, learning about new brands, going to new places and not knowing what will happen when I am onsite. I have worked a ton of events where promotional models don't show up and I can say that it doesn't ruin the event, we always make it work but it does ruin things. It ruins the relationship with our client. I can guarantee that if a client has a bad experience with an agency they will not be back. It ruins the relationship between promotional models and modeling agencies, WE WILL NEVER CONTACT A PROMOTIONAL MODEL THAT HAS SCREWED US OVER. We have heard every excuse, there was a death, I'm so sick, my car isn't working, I forgot. We don't care what your excuse is, we wont believe it, especially 30 minutes before your event starts. It also upsets us that we could've booked anyone else that would have showed up, done a better job, and appreciated the opportunity but the client unfortunately selected someone that was irresponsible and unprofessional and it ruined it for everyone. So after we get the fake email or text message because you are to unprofessional to call we have to scramble to find a replacement. This is tough because models don't want to be the 2nd option because the 1st one backed out and there is usually no time to find a replacement.
The reason we write about this is so people don't do it! This is such an amazing industry and you are privileged to work in it. We ask that you are professional, reliable, and do your job. The team at Pink Avenue Models tries to pay well and we pay fast because we think you deserve it. Since we have worked in every aspect of this industry we know what is important and we know what to expect.
One of our clients contacted us today because they used multiple agencies for an event and models from some of the other agencies backed out. They asked for our help but with the event being hours away there was nothing we could do. Their client is now going to be upset with them, and they are upset with the modeling agency, and those models have been banned from the company. Just notice how much your irresponsibility affects others.
Rant over. Enjoy your weekend.

No Call No Show = Worst Thing To Do
Our blogs are usually about events that we have coming up or about tips to make our promotional models more prepared. We usually talk about trade shows, events, street teams, promotions and anything else going on in the industry but today we are going to vent about promotional models.
We understand that this industry is flexible and that you make your own schedules, everyone is an independent contractor. We appreciate all of the promotional models that are reliable, responsible, and live up to their responsibilities. We HATE the models that fill out their paperwork, confirm that they are all set to work, and then the day of they just don't show up. Not only do they not show up but they don't even respond when we reach out to them, maybe being ignored is better than a fake excuse. The reason we bring this up is because the weather is getting warmer and people would rather do fun things then work, and that is fine, just don't agree to work then. There is nothing worse for the modeling agency and client then a no call no show.
Clients rely on us to provide staff for their events and all of our clients select who they would like to book so it isn't easy to just find any replacement. A model that doesn't show up ruins that relationship with our client. Not showing up to work is a very selfish thing to do and not only does it cost the agency money but it ruins our relationships and can make us lose clients as well. It is THE worst thing a models can do.
Please think about this the next time you just don't feel like working. Tell the agency something came up so they can find a replacement and replace you with someone that actually wants to work. Just so you know you will be banned from the agency and if you do this to a lot of modeling agencies you wont be able to find work.
Sorry for the vent but it's annoying for us!

Pink Avenue Model's Pet Peeve
I have been working in this industry for about 10 years and would like to think that I have experienced most situations. The team at Pink Avenue Models has heard every excuse of why a model couldn't show up for work, we have had amazing events and some that did not go as planned. We staff events, trade shows, street teams, corporate parties and everything in between. We love our job and enjoy it but there is one thing that really bothers us and it's out of our control.
Yes, we book promotional models all over the country but we can't be at every event. How the model performs on site is one of our biggest worries. We want to make sure they show up on time, dressed and ready to work. We don't want them to complain, embarrass us or the client. This is why we are so picky about who we hire and add to our database. We want gorgeous, professional, reliable, outgoing talent that take their job seriously. There is nothing worse then confirming with a model 2 days prior to their event and hearing, "oh sorry, I woke up sick and won't be able to work" or "family emergency" or any other excuse, we have heard them all.
With all of this said please keep it in mind when you are booked with our modeling agency or any other company. Once you back out, don't show, or perform badly the agency will probably ban you. It would be stupid for us to let you make us look bad more then once.

Brand Ambassador, Promotional Model, Trade Show Model, Spokesmodel...
Brand ambassador, promotional model, trade show model, product specialist, spokesmodel, all mean the same thing to me but there are a few differences. The team at Pink Avenue Models gets tons of phone calls from people asking how to get into the modeling industry and we always reply with we're a promotional modeling agency so we do things a little different. We try to explain what we focus in which is staffing events and trade shows all over the country. Our clients all use different words when booking models but all want the same results. I think the main differences between the terms used in this industry are the amount of training involved and the attire.
Brand ambassadors - these positions are usually lower in pay, require khaki pants, an oversized t shirt, and take place outside. This is how a lot of people start in this industry. These are also the only type events that you can get aways with minimal amounts of make up and a pony tail.
Promotional model - this term is used a lot in liquor promotions or special events. The client is usually looking for attractive models that have the brand knowledge of their product memorized. These models are required to have their hair and make up done, usually wear a dress and heels, and be extremely fun and personable.
Trade show model - this is exactly what it sounds like, you are a model at a trade show. This is really good money for models because it's multiple days and long hours. Attire for these types of events can be anything from a suit to a swimsuit depending on the show. Clients look for experienced models that are professional, attractive and outgoing because you need to get people into their booth.
Product specialist/spokesmodel - these are usually long term positions for 1 brand that require a lot of training and maybe even traveling. The perfect example would be an auto show. These models are paid well, usually have contracts, and know everything there is to know about the product they are promoting.
Every one of these positions have the same goal which is to interact with potential consumers, educate them on the brand and encourage them to buy whatever you are promoting. The whole idea of a promotion is to promote a product and to get people excited about it, that is why companies spend so much time on marketing. This industry is so fun but we want you to remain professional as well. Happy Promoting!

Have Your Promotional Models Been Trained?
A lot goes into hiring staff for an event, more than anyone knows. Usually there are multiple parties involved. Sometimes it starts with a client, they hire a marketing agency, then that marketing agency hires a modeling agency, and then a model is hired. There are a lot of contracts involved, and requests coming from various people. We want to hire the best staff that we can, and as we've said a million times before we are picky about who we add to our database. We found an article today that talks about how to hire the best brand ambassadors and we agree with all 12 of these steps. It's not always easy to follow through with these steps, and some events are last minute so it's just not possible. In a perfect world we would plan every promotion this way. Enjoy reading this article and think about it next time you are planning an event, these steps will lead you to the best promotional modeling team.

Simple Ways Promotional Models Can Help Us
The team at Pink Avenue Models works hard staffing events all over the country. We staff trade shows, street teams, special events, liquor promotions, and even print and video work in numerous cities everyday. We love what we do and appreciate all of the hard work from our promotional models. Here are a few things we ask of our staff to help us out...
- Please sign and return your paperwork on time. We understand that some events come up last minute but please get it to us asap. We need this as an agreement between the model and the modeling agency and also to pay you on time.
- Please show up to your event on time, which means 15 minutes early. It's nice when the client doesn't have to call us and ask where their hired staff is.
- Arrive hair and make up ready. One of the worst calls we can get is our client saying the models showed up fresh out of bed and don't look like their pictures. It's hard for me to call a model and tell her to fix her hair and make up.
- Respond to any email, phone call or text from the agency. Anytime we contact you it's for a reason.
- Where the proper attire. This is another thing that is in your contract, the client specifically requested it, and it needs to be followed.
- Return any receipts within 48 hours so we can bill the client and reimburse you. Read your contract because not every event reimburses for parking. If you turn in your receipt 1,2 or 3 weeks late you will not be reimbursed.
- Show up ready to work, smile, have fun and represent the brand the best you can. Remember you are being paid well and should love what you do.

Model Tip - Anti Aging Secrets
When you hear the word model you may think tall, skinny, gorgeous, rich and that they never eat. This is obviously the stereotype, and people may not know that there are tons of other types of modeling. Pink Avenue Models is a modeling agency that staffs mostly events with occasional print work, runway shows, or video work. We book trade shows, street teams, promotions and special events all over the country. Our clients all have one thing in common, they love the natural and youthful look. I found an article with awesome anti aging tips and of course wanted to share it with all of our promotional models. Here are a few things that you can do to keep the youthful look that everyone likes.
Everyone ages differently, a lot of it has to deal with your lifestyle. Follow these 10 tips and prevent aging.
- Where sunscreen everyday. This means in the Winter, Summer, rain or shine. Get a face lotion that has it in it, so easy.
- Don't smoke! Smoking breaks down the collagen and elastin in your face which causes wrinkles.
- Use a retinoid. This will prevent wrinkles from forming and minimize the appearance of fine lines that have already formed.
- Stay hydrated. This means tons of water, not soda, juice or coffee.
- Sleep. This gives the skin a rest and prevents puffy skin around the eyes.
- Maintain a healthy weight. Gaining and losing weight isn't good for your skin, skin loses elasticity over time.
- Eat right. The nutrients in the food you eat can affect your skin. Alcohol and refined sugar are things to stay away from.
- Exercise. Blood flow increases a healthy, glowing look.
- Don't stress. Stress cause your cells to age faster.
- Don't pick at blemishes. This means pimples, scratches or any other inperfections. It scares the skin and as we get older it takes longer to heal.
Everyone ages differently, a lot of it has to deal with your lifestyle. Follow these 10 tips and prevent aging.
