I don't know about all of you but I absolutely hate blow drying my hair. I have long, thick hair and it takes forever. I feel like at the end of my drying session that my hair is still a little wet, which makes it impossible to style. It is such a process! Men vs Women

If you haven't seen the new ads from Pantene you should. Working in the promotional modeling industry has so many perks but downfalls as well. One of the biggest downfalls that I experienced was event attendees always talking down to us, oh you're a booth babe, what will you do next? I always found it amusing when the promotional models would explain to them that they are in law school, or med school and this was a well paying job that was flexible and great for networking. I don't think people understand that models can be smart, educated, funny, and gorgeous. Trade shows, promotions, and events are fun, we pick our own schedules, go to amazing places, meet great people and get paid to do it. This add reminds me of how judgmental people really are and how men and women will always be viewed differently. Winter Has Arrived. It's FREEZING!

It is FREEZING here in Chicago and most of the country as well. Promotions usually go on no matter what the weather is so we want to make sure our promotional models are staying warm out there. There is nothing we can do to change the weather but make sure you show up to your event prepared. Remember to wear layers. Wear whatever you can fit under your clothes that are required for the event. Bring hand warmers and stick them in your shoes, gloves, and where ever else they can go. Wear layers of socks, having cold and numb feet is uncomfortable. Make sure that you take breaks and warm up, take care of yourself. Drink warm liquids, tea, coffee, hot chocolate. Try and stay out of the wind if possible. If you know you are going to be miserable outside please do not sign up for outdoor promotions or street team events. PRI Show - Indianapolis

PRI 2013 will be taking place in Indianapolis at the Indiana Convention Center next month. The dates are December 12 - 14. This trade show is for anyone that works in the performance racing industry. If you are reading this you probably have noticed that we have a brand new website. The team at Pink Avenue Models has grown so much, redesigned our logo, and agreed that we wanted an update. Heel Problems Solved!

It's a fact that women love dressing up and getting pretty, this obviously includes wearing heels. There is something about strutting in heels that makes a woman feel powerful, gorgeous and confident. With this said, I can honestly say that there is no such thing as comfortable heels. They hurt our whole body, give us blisters, and are not the best thing for us. In the promotional modeling industry models wear them for up to 10 hours sometimes. Rarely do promotional models get to wear flats, when they do it's a very exciting thing. I found an article on Yahoo today that will fix 10 of the most common heel problems. Solar Power International 2013 - Chicago!

We Are Ready For Fall, Are You?

We have been mentioning it for weeks, Summer is busy season but Fall is usually even busier. We want to make sure that all of our promotional models are ready so we made a short list of things that should be done asap!

1. Send us your updated pictures! We want clients to see what you look like now, not last year or years ago.
2. Update your resume. We know that you have worked a ton of events this Summer and modeling agencies like to see that and so do our clients.
3. Make sure you have the standard pieces of clothing that you will need for all types of trade shows and events. Black dress, black dress pants, cute flats, comfortable black heels and of course khaki pants.
4. Just remember to send us your paperwork as soon as you can. It's a commitment between you and us and we need it. Smile and have fun, you love your job!

I know it's only mid Summer but the temperatures in Chicago are making us think that it's Fall. I love Fall so I am perfectly ok with the current weather. SEMA 2013! Las Vegas!

I have been working in the promotional modeling industry for years and have always heard about SEMA. I've always been based out of Chicago so haven't really had the chance to work Las Vegas trade shows, but have been told that this one is AMAZING! The team at Pink Avenue Models has been extremely busy lately. We usually book a lot of events in the major cities like Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles but lately we have been challenged with smaller cities like Covington, Kentucky. When promotional models are signing up on our website we ask for a head shot, body shot, favorite picture and a candid picture. Why a candid picture you may ask, because we need to see what you REALLY look like. Professional pictures look amazing in our look books but the client wants to know what they will get the day you show up to their event. IRCE 2013!

IRCE is coming back to Chicago this June! The Internet Retailer Conference will be taking place June 4 - 7 at McCormick Place. This is the worlds largest internet e-commerce event. Best Beauty Products For Promotional Models

I LOVE any "Best" list, especially when it's talking about beauty products. I can not even explain how expensive it is to be a woman. We have hair, make up, skin, to worry about. Not to mention they are always coming out with new products that we want to try and most of the time we don't even like it because it's not what we are used to. No Call No Show = Worst Thing To Do

Our blogs are usually about events that we have coming up or about tips to make our promotional models more prepared. We usually talk about trade shows, events, street teams, promotions and anything else going on in the industry but today we are going to vent about promotional models. We understand that this industry is flexible and that you make your own schedules, everyone is an independent contractor. We appreciate all of the promotional models that are reliable, responsible, and live up to their responsibilities. We HATE the models that fill out their paperwork, confirm that they are all set to work, and then the day of they just don't show up. Not only do they not show up but they don't even respond when we reach out to them, maybe being ignored is better than a fake excuse. The reason we bring this up is because the weather is getting warmer and people would rather do fun things then work, and that is fine, just don't agree to work then. There is nothing worse for the modeling agency and client then a no call no show. Clients rely on us to provide staff for their events and all of our clients select who they would like to book so it isn't easy to just find any replacement. A model that doesn't show up ruins that relationship with our client. Not showing up to work is a very selfish thing to do and not only does it cost the agency money but it ruins our relationships and can make us lose clients as well. It is THE worst thing a models can do. Please think about this the next time you just don't feel like working. Tell the agency something came up so they can find a replacement and replace you with someone that actually wants to work. Just so you know you will be banned from the agency and if you do this to a lot of modeling agencies you wont be able to find work. Sorry for the vent but it's annoying for us!
