Holiday Weight Gain? Get Back To Your Model Size Fast!

Christmas was yesterday, but let's be honest we have been celebrating for a couple weeks. We have attended holiday parties for work, holiday parties with family, and many events leading up to Christmas, not to mention all of the lunch/dinner dates with friends. It's a proven fact that people gain weight during the holidays but it's ok, it's easy to lose. Here are a few tips to help you lose the couple pounds that you gained this month. Get back into model shape in no time, busy season is right around the corner.

1. Drink 3 liters of water with lemon per day. Lemon speeds up your metabolism which can burn an extra 100 calories per day.


2. Eat less. You shouldn't always finish your plate, portion size in the US is way to big.


3. Don't buy diet food. It's not good for you, pay attention to labels and fresh food.


4. Eat a salad everyday. Replace one of your meals with a salad everyday, it's a healthy low calorie alternative.


5. Eat frequently. If you wait to eat 1 meal a day you will binge eat. Eat 3 small meals and 2 snacks a day, you will end up eating less.


6. Juice. Use a juicer, it tastes amazing, it's good for you and it's easy. You can use carrots, ginger, cucumbers.


7. Eat nuts. Almonds, walnuts, and cashews make amazing snacks.


8. Eat protein at every meal, it will keep you feeling full longer.


9. Watch what you drink. Alcohol has a lot of calories in it and you don't think about it. Drink less.


10. Be careful of carbs. Great for energy but that is about all.


11. Substitute yogurt for greek yogurt. Greek yogurt has less sugar and more protein.


12. Substitute mayo. Mayo is so fattening, use mustard instead for added flavor.


13. Cut out soda and sugary drinks. This means diet soda, regular soda, flavored coffee drinks and most juices.

These are quick and easy things that can get you back to your pre holiday weight. Make a couple easy changes and substitute a few things. Just be cautious of what you are consuming.

Heels Look So Amazing, But Feel So Awful!

Heels are mandatory in the modeling industry. We love the way we look in them but hate how they feel after and 8 hour shift at a trade show. Not only can heels cause pain and problems with your feet, they can cause problems with your lower back, knees and pelvis. The reason our feet hurt so much after wearing heels is because our feet slide forward in heels and our body has to reposition all of our weight. There is no way that models can get out of wearing heels to their events but there are a few tips that can reduce the pain and future problems. Only wear heels when you absolutely have to. Always have a pair of comfortable shoes that you can change into immediately after work. Pick a thicker heel over a stiletto and avoid pointy shoes, your toes have no room in them. Chose your heels wisely because you will spend a lot of time in them.

Quick Holiday Hair Styles For Models

Just days away from Christmas and still tons of holiday parties to attend! Models always try and look their best but with them being so busy sometimes they just don't have the time. Here are a few hair ideas that any promotional model should try. These looks are easy, simple, classy and look amazing. Try these hairstyles at your holiday events or even the next trade show or event you work.

1. French twist. Super easy, always sexy.


2. Fishtail braid. Put it to the side and make it messy.


3. Ponytail. Always simple.


4. Big curls. Use hot rollers, they last the longest.


5. Bun. Wear it with a shiny headband to make it more dressed up, keep it a little messy.


6. Bangs. If you have bangs show them. Totally in right now.


7. Side ponytail. Curl it or leave it straight.


8. Half back.


9. Braids. Small ones, wrap them into a bun or blend them with a side pony.


10. Waves. Waves are always in, use big velcro rollers for this look.

Trends That Always Work For Models

Trends come in and out of style so fast. Models are always changing their style of clothes, hair and make up. What looks will always be trendy and in style forever?

* Wavy hair. Messy hair always looks good. Models can dress up or down and still pull off this look.

* Thick long eyelashes. This is very important for models. Get a great mascara to pull off this look. No need for extensions.

* The natural look. Models that don't have a lot of time can still pull off a great look. Natural make up and natural hair always looks great.

* Pale pink nail polish. Colors change every season, Pale pink looks good on everyone and with every outfit.

* Bronze, sun kissed skin. No need to go tanning or be in the sun. Bronzer works wonders!

* Ponytails. This is a classic and innocent look, and it only takes a few minutes to do.

* Red lips. This isn't an every day look but is great for holiday parties or a night on the town.

Models can wear these looks at trade shows, events, promotions, parties or girls night out. These looks are classic, easy to do and look great!

Affiliate Summit 2012 - Las Vegas

The team at Pink Avenue Models is teaming up with a new client for the Affiliate Summit 2012 in Las Vegas! This conference will be held at Caesars Palace January 8-10. The Affiliate Summit was formed in 2003 with the thought of educating on the new industry issues. Last year there were almost 5,000 attendees so we are hoping for even more in 2012. As always there will be great keynote speakers and tons of great networking opportunities. We are excited to be part of another great event in Las Vegas!

California Gift Show 2012!

It's back! The California Gift Show will be taking over the Los Angeles Convention Center and L.A. Mart next month. The show rooms will be open January 18-24 and of course there will be promotional models the whole show. This show will showcase everything,
fashion accessories, gourmet, seasonal, garden & home, kids, spa, gift, resort and stationery. Pink Avenue Models is teaming up with new and old clients for this show again and we couldn't be more excited about it. This is a great show, the models had a ton of fun last time and the consumers really enjoy it. This is one of many great events happening in 2012, looking forward to a great year!

Virtual Models? Yes, It's Happening!

I'm sure that you have heard of the new thing computerized models, right? It's all I have heard about the last 24 hours, it was on tv, the radio, and there are tons of online articles about it. H&M has admitted to using "completely virtual" models for their new lingerie ads. A lot of the wardrobe for H&M is being shot on mannequins and are then fixed with photo editing software after. They do use real models faces and then just place them on to the mannequins body during the editing process where they are humanized. Even the faces are edited, skin tones are changed, freckles are added, and other changes can also be made. The point of this article is to prove that the models you see in ads are altered and that nobody is perfect, photo editing changes everything. Do you think what H&M is doing is wrong?

5 Things Promotional Models Should Do This Month

Since it's Winter and things tend to be a little slower during this season we thought we would make a small list of things for you to catch up on this season.

1. Update your pictures! We want to show our clients recent pictures of our models so take some time out and set up a photo shoot.


2. Update your resume. It's nice for modeling agencies to know your experience. We know its hard to update it after every event but try and keep it as current as possible.


3. Buy those items you're missing. Make sure that you have everything you could need for a promotion. Khaki pants/shorts, black dress, black closed toe heels, gym shoes, black pants, a blazer for trade shows. Every event requires different attire but these items are frequently requested.


4. Add yourself to more agency databases. The more companies that have your information, the more opportunities you will receive.


5. Take time to update your profiles on any modeling website or agency page. Update your pictures, resumes, stats, age, address or anything else that may have changed.

These things should keep you a little busier this season. It's best to keep things current, it will guarantee you more work and shows that you care about the industry you work in. Don't forget to send us your new info, pictures or resumes!

Promotional Model Must Haves!

Are you interested in working in the promotional modeling industry? I have to say it is a fun industry to work in but very competitive. There are so many different jobs in this industry, you can work trade shows, events, liquor promotions, street teams and so much more. Before getting in this industry you should have professional pictures to send along with a resume. You will also need a few items in your closet, you may already have some. Here is a list of items every promotional model should own and Black Friday is just a few days away and a great time to shop for cheap!

* Black pants. Make sure they are fitted and professional looking. Do not buy black jeans!

* Black skirt. Not too short, not to long. The best length is mid thigh.

* Black heels. Make sure they are closed toe. This is required for a lot of in tore demos.

* Black knee high boots. These are usually required when working liquor promotions.

* Gym shoes. These are nice to have and usually worn during street team promotions.

* Khaki pants/shorts. Khakis are required usually in the summer for outdoor promotions but can be asked for year round.

* Umbrella. There are promotions that are rain or shine so make sure you have an umbrella.

* Nude bra/underwear. There are some uniforms that are very sheer and that is when these items will be required.

* Conservative/professional clothing. Most trade shows will request the trade show models to dress professional but sexy. Have a few items in your closet in case the client requests this look.

It sounds like a lot of stuff but you never know what the client will request.

Updated Pictures Needed!

Things are starting to slow down since Winter is approaching which means more free time for the models! Since you won't be going promotion to promotion the next couple months make some time to update your pictures. The team at Pink Avenue Models receives tons of model submissions every week and we have seen tons of pictures, good and bad. It's important to keep your photos updated so the clients know what you look like currently, not years ago. Photo shoots are meant to be fun and a time to be creative and use an alter ego but we do want simple pictures, nothing to artsy. When we send a model's profile to the client for approval we send 3 pictures, a head shot, body shot and a candid photo so keep that in mind when you submit to modeling agencies. The head shot should be close up and the model should be smiling. The body shot does not have to be a bikini or lingerie picture, we prefer jeans a fitted shirt and heels. This will show your body without being too revealing. A candid picture can be you out, or working a promotion. The only request is that you are the only one in the picture. We understand that pictures are altered, photo shopped and can be changed dramatically, we ask that you send us pictures with minimal editing. Have fun at photo shoots, it's your one chance to wear things that you can't always get away with wearing. Not to mention you get to wear different make up and have great hair, it's a day to dress up and have fun. We can't wait to see your new pictures!

LRD - A Necessity For Every Model

The holidays are right around the corner, just 1 week until Thanksgiving! Red is definitely the color to wear during the holidays and is everywhere this season. I've been looking at red dresses all morning and saved some of my favorites to show all the promotional models out there, and they are all less than $100! I know that there are corporate events and parties coming up that you may be working or attending and a red dress will definitely make a statement. Models love to shop and finding the perfect red dress is just another reason.

AHR - Chicago!

The team at Pink Avenue Models started casting for the AHR Expo in Chicago today! The show will take place at McCormick Place January 23-25, 2012. This trade show is expected to be bigger and better than ever! They are expecting over 2,000 exhibitors from over 30 countries and over 50,000 visitors from over 120 countries. This will be the 64th International Air Conditioning , Heating, Refrigerating Expo and it's going to be huge. We are so excited to be teaming up with multiple clients for this show. The New England Mortgage Expo 2012

I can't believe we are already casting for events in 2012, but it's exciting! We are teaming up with one of our clients and staffing models for The New England Mortgage Expo on January 13, 2012. This year the expo will take place at the MGM Grand in Connecticut. The New England Mortgage Expo is a great place to learn about emerging opportunities and innovative solutions for the mortgage industry, this is New England's largest mortgage expo. It's a quick day and a great way to get a lot of information, watch keynote speakers and network. We are so excited to be booking for 2012 already and happy to staff models for this trade show. Stay Warm During Winter Events

We're well into the month of November and I have to say it's pretty cold and rainy here in Chicago. Although the weather is less then nice we still have outdoor events and street teams taking place and this will go on all Winter. How do promotional models stay warm?? Here are some tips of how to stay warm when it's freezing outside.

1. Wear layers! As many as you can. Chances are you will be provided with a branded t shirt so fit as many long sleeved shirts, sweatshirts and jackets as you can under it. Same with layering under your jeans, tights really help and multiple pairs of socks are a must.


2. Buy hand warmers and stick them in your shoes as well. They stay warm for hours and really help.


3. Drink warm liquids, hot tea, hot chocolate, and coffee.


4. Take breaks and go inside, any event manager will understand that staying outside for hours is crazy.


5. Keep moving, this will keep your body warmer.


6. Stand in places that block the wind or are in the sun if possible.


7. Bring gloves, a scarf and a hat. Cover as much of your body as possible.

Don't forget to bundle up, it's the only thing that will keep you warm in this Windy City. Remember to take care of yourself, if it's too cold take breaks and warm up. If you know that you don't do well in the colder temperatures avoid signing up for these events because the promotion still has to go on. Stay warm, have fun!

Halloween Weekend Events!

The team at Pink Avenue Models is teaming up with a last minute client and staffing events in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago this weekend! The street team will take place at parades and festivals and the goal is to pass out wristbands to attendees. The teams will consist of 4-5 promotional models and the events will be between 3-4 hours long. We're excited to be part of this event and can't wait to post pictures. Event @ Trump Tower - Tonight!

Tonight 11 of our favorite Chicago models will be working an event at the Trump Tower downtown. We staffed this same event last year when it took place at the Sears Tower. The models are hired to assist our client with their annual corporate party, and are all assigned different tasks. The models will greet attendees, entertain the crowd, pose for pictures and run the different stations. We are very excited about this event and know that the girls will have fun. We are just hours away from start time and can't wait! Cheers to another successful event!

Corporate Wellness Conference

The 2011 Corporate Wellness Conference is coming to the Chicago area in 5 days and we are excited that we are staffing models for this event. This is the #1 conference in the corporate health and wellness industry and this will be the 3rd annual conference. This conference brings together employers and benefits managers that implement health and wellness programs to the vendors, TPA's, insurance agents, brokers, consultants, and insurance companies. The Corporate Wellness Conference will feature up to 4,000 private networking meetings. There will be 1,500 attendees, and 140 exhibitors. Have fun at this event ladies!

60th Anniversary Party Tonight, Including Male Models!

Tonight we have 2 of our very attractive male models working an event in Chicago at the Merchandise Mart. These guys were hired to be eye candy at a 60th anniversary party. The attire for this event is dress pants and a bow tie, no shirts required. Our attractive models will be greeting attendees, handing out raffle tickets, and giving away cupcakes at the end. I have been to a ton of events in my life but this one sounds extra fun, maybe it's the dress code that caught my eye! Have fun guys!

10 Shoes Promotional Models Must Have

It's a fact, women LOVE shoes and most of us have minimum 20 pairs of heels. In the promotional modeling industry heels are a necessity and we spend long hours in them. Models work trade shows, special events, street teams, walk in runway shows and anything in between. Here is a list of 10 types of shoes ever model should have in their closet, these will cover any type of event you are booked for.

1. Classic black pump. Business sexy but can be worn at night as well.


2. Ballet flat. Necessary for between shifts or outdoor promotions.


3. Pointy pumps. Great for trade shows.


4. Flat leather sandals. Great for summer promotions.


5. Suede booties. Great for liquor promotions or trade shows.


6. Metallic strappy heels. Great for runway shows or wearing fancy dresses.


7. Converse/Canvas sneakers. Great for long hours.


8. Wedges. When heels aren't required but flats aren't enough.


9. Black boots. Get them with a small heel, fashionable and great over jeans.

NBWA - Las Vegas!

The NBWA's (National Beer Wholesalers Association) 74th annual convention will be taking over Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas October 16-19. This trade show is full of educational programs, and great networking opportunities for the beer industry, brewers and vendors. The NBWA is the show to learn about new brewers, products, and meet new vendors. This year there will also be 23 educational seminars! This is a fun trade show and the perfect event to be held in Las Vegas. We are excited to have some of our favorite promotional models working this event. Have fun in Vegas!
