Hey Promotional Models - Get Spring Break Ready!
We are all conscious of our weight, especially with bikini season right around the corner. Promotional models never know if their attire is going to be a mini dress, polo shirt, short shorts, swimsuit top or anything else so they have to always be aware of their shape. Here are some tips I found to change in your diet . They are tiny things to change that can help you keep the extra pounds away. Next time you get a casting about a trade show, event or promotion that requires a smaller outfit than usual you will be ready! Follow these easy changes...
We all want to be healthy and these are some easy things to switch for great results. This industry is so unpredictable and you never know when or where you will be able to eat, I recommend always bringing food with you. Make sure you bring healthy snacks and put the chips, candy and soda away!
- Drink water with lemon. The lemon speeds up your metabolism, and detoxifys the liver.
- Listen to your hunger. Don't eat because you're bored, eat because you are hungry and need to. When you are full stop, overeating is a huge cause of weight gain.
- Don't buy diet food. Buy food rich in nutrients that is good for you, not pre packaged meals that say they are good for diets.
- Eat salad as a meal everyday. Sounds boring but add things you like and that are good for you.
- Eat 3 meals and 2 snacks a day. If you never get too hungry you won't over eat.
- Buy a juicer. Fresh juice is so good for you.
- Eat nuts. Almonds, cashews, and walnuts are a great thing to have on hand.
- Make sure you eat protein at every meal. This will help to keep you full longer and gives you energy.
- Limit your alcohol intake. Calories can add up and you don't even notice.
- Limit the carbs. Carbs are good for energy but can be very fatty when you have to many.
- Substitute your condiments. Mustard for mayo is an easy switch.
- Try new things. Healthy new things that is.

Promotional Models - Must Have Beauty Secrets
I love doing research and helping models or potential models with tips in this industry. Today I found an article with amazing tips from beauty experts. Keep in mind that your make up depends on the type of event you are working. Street teams and trade shows usually request a more natural look, while liquor promotions and special events like a more done up, glamorous look. Here are some tips, use them!
These are just a few tips to help you look amazing and a lot of them are quick and easy, promotional models usually have crazy schedules. Stay pretty!
- Layer your eyeliner. They recommend using a pencil and then going over it with a liquid liner. It will last all day!
- Hair mask. If you sleep with a hair mask and wash it out in the morning your hair will be repaired and super soft.
- 2 eyeliner colors. They recommend black on top, brown on bottom. Its more natural.
- Heat your eyelash curler. This will make your lashes stay curly all day. Use your blow dryer for the best effect.
- Stay hydrated. The best thing for your body and skin is water.
- Make your blow out last. Just sleep with your hair pinned up in a high bun, you will wake up with amazing hair.
- Always wear sunscreen. It prevents aging and protects you from sun damage and skin cancer.
- Wear your hair up when you can. Taking breaks from blow dryers, flat irons or curling irons is a great thing!
- Chapstick. A necessity, always carry it with you.
- Yellow nails. This happens when we wear dark polish in the sun. Use a nail brush and whitening toothpaste to solve this issue.
- Concealer. It's a must. Use under your eyes to create a brighter look and cover with powder.
- Mix bronzer or oil with your body lotion. This can give a hint of color or shine.
These are just a few tips to help you look amazing and a lot of them are quick and easy, promotional models usually have crazy schedules. Stay pretty!

Model Tip - Anti Aging Secrets
When you hear the word model you may think tall, skinny, gorgeous, rich and that they never eat. This is obviously the stereotype, and people may not know that there are tons of other types of modeling. Pink Avenue Models is a modeling agency that staffs mostly events with occasional print work, runway shows, or video work. We book trade shows, street teams, promotions and special events all over the country. Our clients all have one thing in common, they love the natural and youthful look. I found an article with awesome anti aging tips and of course wanted to share it with all of our promotional models. Here are a few things that you can do to keep the youthful look that everyone likes.
Everyone ages differently, a lot of it has to deal with your lifestyle. Follow these 10 tips and prevent aging.
- Where sunscreen everyday. This means in the Winter, Summer, rain or shine. Get a face lotion that has it in it, so easy.
- Don't smoke! Smoking breaks down the collagen and elastin in your face which causes wrinkles.
- Use a retinoid. This will prevent wrinkles from forming and minimize the appearance of fine lines that have already formed.
- Stay hydrated. This means tons of water, not soda, juice or coffee.
- Sleep. This gives the skin a rest and prevents puffy skin around the eyes.
- Maintain a healthy weight. Gaining and losing weight isn't good for your skin, skin loses elasticity over time.
- Eat right. The nutrients in the food you eat can affect your skin. Alcohol and refined sugar are things to stay away from.
- Exercise. Blood flow increases a healthy, glowing look.
- Don't stress. Stress cause your cells to age faster.
- Don't pick at blemishes. This means pimples, scratches or any other inperfections. It scares the skin and as we get older it takes longer to heal.

Promotional Models Top 5 Ways To Book Work
The awesome thing about the promotional modeling industry is that everyday is different and you can work with numerous companies. Promotional models work various hours, represent numerous brands, are always at different locations and meeting new people. We get a lot of potential models asking how to get in the industry and how to get work, and there are numerous ways. This industry is so flexible and different than other jobs so you have to be cautious. Here are our top 5 recommendations on how to find work.
When sending your information to agencies or online job posts please send recent pictures and an up to date resume, there is nothing worse then getting pictures from 6 years ago. Submit to as many jobs as possible and don't get frustrated if you aren't picked for every job. Good luck models!
- Send your promotional resume and pictures to as many modeling and staffing agencies. Try marketing companies too, some do their own staffing. The more agencies that have your information, the more job notifications you will receive.
- Check online websites. Model Mayhem has a lot of modeling related jobs and it seems safe.
- Marketing Rockstar is a great website along with Event Speak.
- "Like" all of the companies Facebook pages, they post a lot of jobs on there. Make sure you join promotional modeling groups too. They are full of people just like you that can offer advice and post jobs.
- Craigslist is a great site and you usually work directly through the client. Just be careful when sending information to a free website like Craigslist, anyone can post there.

New Make Up Tips For 2012!
It's a new year, we all made resolutions and most of them probably have to do with looking and feeling better. Promotional models wear different looks depending if they are working a trade show, street team, special event, photo shoot or any other type of promotion. Here are a few make up tips to try this year, all very simple any model should be able to do it alone.
All promotions require a different look but you can never go wrong with the natural look, people love natural beauty. Mascara, and lip gloss are a models best friend.
- Red lips. If you wear a lot of color on your lips keep the rest of your face natural.
- Pink cheeks. Very natural looking and easy to do.
- Bronze/metallic eye shadow. Sexy and less dramatic then the smokey eye.
- Glossy lips. This will always be in, nothing better then shiny lips.
- Bronzer. Go 1 shade darker for a natural sun kissed look.
- Fake eyelashes. These can be easy to apply but leave an amazing effect.
- Single line. They recommend just lining the top lid with eyeliner, again very simple and natural.

Models! Are You Ready For Spring Fashion?
I know it's not even mid January but the team at Pink Avenue Models is always planning ahead. Not to mention it is 55 degrees in Chicago so obviously we are thinking about Spring because that is what it feels like. I decided to do some research today and see what the models will be wearing on the runway next season. We are excited to know what Spring fashion will be like and here is a sneak preview.
All Winter we stick to neutral colors so knowing Spring is ahead is very exciting! This Spring the fashion forecast is bright with lots of prints and a hint of metallic. Just a couple months left of cold and snow and then on to flowers, warmer weather and lots of color.
- Lots of bold, solid color.
- Bold prints. Floral prints, geometrical shapes, bigger the better.
- Orange and tangerine.
- Pink shorts/blazers. Pick your shade.
- Camo. Not your average green and brown though, pastels and camo will be paired together this season.
- Metallics. Keep it minimal and wear it in accessories and shoes.
