Stay Motivated - Gorgeous Bikini Bodies

It's freezing here in Chicago, maybe 15 degrees. With that said I am hiding in a sweater and leggings and will be for the next couple of months if not more. I'm comfortable and feel like I don't have to be bikini ready until May, then I saw this article and thought maybe I should be bikini ready now. The next couple of months can be slow for our industry. The auto show models will start traveling but the trade shows will slow down and there will not be any outdoor events in the Midwest. Our promotional models will relax and go home for the holidays. This is our break time and it is well earned, eat dessert and eat home cooked meals. How To Get A Model Body

I didn't know what to blog about today and then I saw this article, it's perfect! Today I ate mac and cheese because it's cold in Chicago and we will be fully covered for the next couple of months, and we love food in the Midwest. While reading this I thought that I should go to the gym then I realized that I won't be walking in the biggest fashion show of the year. I can't imagine being a model and walking in front of people that are staring at your body in harsh light, that sounds awful! Well if you want a body like a Victoria's Secret model you can work out for 5 hours a day like them. My Social Media Complaint

The team at Pink Avenue Models doesn't usually post on social media websites to find promotional models. We like to hire talent that has submitted on our website, been approved and added to our database. We look for models that have experience and great pictures that we can forward on to our clients. With all of this said we are aware of all of the groups on facebook and I noticed something while looking through the pages the other day. I saw a ton of postings which is great if that is how modeling agencies want to find their staff. What bothered me was the comments from the promotional models looking for work. The main comment that bothered me was "I applied but they never responded." This bothered me because they don't understand how many emails the modeling agency receives a day. I would say on an average day I receive at least 100 emails/phone calls. We try to respond to everyone, especially if its about an event, payment, or questions that you may have. When it comes to castings we can not respond to everyone that is available for the event. Our process is reaching out to our staff, sending pictures and stats of available models to our client, then contacting the models that the client has selected. It would be impossible for us to reach out to everyone that wasn't selected, it's just how this industry works. My recommendation for commenting on social media is either don't do it or keep it simple and positive. I hope you all are having a busy Fall and a busy trade show season! Team Pink Avenue

NBAA - Orlando!

The team at Pink Avenue Models doesn't staff a ton of events in Florida but we have a pretty big one coming up! We are teaming up with a new client and staffed 14 promotional models for an upcoming event. NBAA2014 – Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition is the worlds largest and most important aviation event. There will be over 1,000 exhibitors and over 25,000 attendees. This show will be taking place at the Orange County Convention Center on October 21 - 23. NACS 2014 - Las Vegas!

NACS was always one of my favorite trade shows to work when it was in Chicago, it was always fun. This year it will be taking place in Las Vegas at the Las Vegas Convention Center in October. This show brings together convenience and fuel retailing for 4 days of buying, selling, networking and learning. This industry started having annual meetings in 1961 and became an expo in 1976, in 1993 it became NACS and has grown so much. IMTS - Chicago!

The International Manufacturing Technology Show is one of the biggest trade shows in the world and it is coming back to Chicago this September. IMTS will be taking over McCormick Place September 8th - 13th. This trade show has almost 2,000 exhibitors and will have over 100,000 attendees. Less Is Always More

We all know that Facebook is full of buzzfeed articles now, some are awesome and some make me wonder who would ever post something so weird. I saw this post yesterday and thought that it proves a point in our industry so of course we are going to talk about it. Have you ever worked with a promotional model that has amazing pictures then shows up to the event looking like she rolled out of bed? That is what this article reminds me of and this is why we ask for candid pictures of models. The client and the modeling agency want to know what you really look like! Pink Avenue Models Update!

I think it has been a while since we have blogged about what we have been doing. The team at Pink Avenue Models has definitely been busy, we have events all over the country! We teamed up with one of our favorite clients for an ongoing promotion. It started in May and will go through October. Most of our events have been on the East Coast, New York, DC, Philadelphia, Baltimore and surrounding cities. PLMA is coming to Chicago in November and we are already booking clients for this show. NACS will be taking place in Las Vegas in October and we have already started working on this as well. We have a brand new client and we are so excited about it! We staffed Routes Chicago in September and NBAA in October in sunny Orlando. We also had IRCE and ITW in the Spring, these events were both in Chicago. PLMA 2014 - Chicago!

The PLMA is coming back to Chicago and will be taking place at the Rosemont Convention Center in November. There will be over 1.200 exhibitors from over 35 countries and over 5,000 attendees, with over 20,000 products being displayed. Flashback Friday!

I know it's Monday but we missed our flashback Friday post so I'm doing it today. This is from Fabtech a couple of years ago. We hired 8 promotional models to pose for pictures with consumers, the audience was 90% men so it was a pretty easy event for these ladies. World Routes - 2014

Chicago will be hosting another amazing event at McCormick Place this September. World Routes 2014 will be taking over this great city September 20 - 23. There will be thousands of attendees from over 300 airlines and 800 different airports, with over 10,000 prearranged meetings and 3 days of conferences. The Assembly Show 2014 - Chicago

I know that it is still June but the team at Pink Avenue Models is always looking ahead, way ahead! We are already staffing trade show models for The Assembly Show that will take place in Chicago this October. We staffed this trade show last year and are excited to be doing it again. My Biggest Pet Peeve In The Promotional Modeling Industry

I worked promotions for a long time and still do when I get a chance. Events are fun and you never know who you will meet or what you will experience. One of my biggest pet peeves is a weak team. There is nothing worse than getting paid the same amount as the other promotional models but doing 100% of the work. Have you ever worked a promotion with another model that thinks she was hired just to be pretty? It's the worst! Promotional models are hired because they are attractive but clients also want them to be intelligent, outgoing, friendly, able to have a conversation with everyone and trained on the product so they can educate potential consumers. Please don't be the weak link, it ruins the event for the client and the other promotional models that you are working with. Team Pink Avenue

Please Carry Sunscreen This Summer! Your Outdoor Events Will Be Hot!

I know it has happened to me and I am sure that it happens often, it's an awful situation. I am talking about sunburn. There is nothing worse than working an outdoor festival for 3 days and being burned, uncomfortable, and having the worst tan lines. Here in Chicago we wait all year for Summer to come. We want the street fests, the music fests, the beach and all of the awesome events. Sometimes we are having so much fun that we don't notice that our bodies are burning. Sunburn is awful! It's painful, dangerous, and can cause long lasting damage and potential skin cancer. Promotional Models, Please Keep It Professional

I have worked in this industry for many years, I have been the promotional model and I have been the person at the modeling agency staffing events. I've seen a little bit of everything and there are some things I just don't understand. A couple things that you should think about if you want to work in the promotional modeling industry or if you already do work in this industry here are a few things you should change.

1. Your email address should be semi professional and not from high school. Try to keep it simple, your name works best. There is nothing more shocking than some of the email addresses that I have seen. My goodness!
2. Unfortunately the internet is not private and a lot of work is now booked online. Keep your facebook profile picture classy. The pictures we see are appalling sometimes. I wonder.. how would this person ever get booked! Again, your facebook should be under your name, we don't want to see an inappropriate name.
3. Speaking of names, tell us your real name! This is work, there will be legal contracts involved. The most annoying thing for us is dealing with "model names" and this happens often. I hate sending a contract to a model and getting a response that says "sorry, that isn't my legal name, can you change it?"
4. Fill out your paperwork correctly! Don't beg me for your check that we sent to the wrong address because you filled out your W9 wrong. We use echo sign, it's the easiest way to fill out paperwork. Please pay attention.
5. Please be professional onsite. Show up on time, interact with attendees, know your brand facts, have manners, and work as hard as you can. You were hired for a reason.

These are just a few things to keep in mind when working in this industry. If these things bother me they probably will bother other people that are booking you for events. Team Pink Avenue
