This is one of my favorite days of the year! It's not my favorite because its NYE but it's my favorite because the team at Pink Avenue Models gets to review pictures of the past year. We had a fun year with amazing events all over the country. This year was great and we are proud of everything that we were part of, but it is time to look ahead and start planning for an even better 2013. Cheers to an amazing new year, goodbye 2012! NYE In Style!

I can't believe how fast time is going, yesterday was Christmas and next week is New Years Day. We are so excited about 2013 and plan to have a ton of amazing trade shows and events, which means a lot of work for our promotional models! We still have about a week of 2012 and we plan to make the best of it. NYE is a busy day for promotional models, they will most likely b working the biggest parties in the country. Thinking Of Becoming A Model? Submission Tips!

The team at Pink Avenue Models gets hundreds of model submissions a week, and obviously we can't add everyone. When filling out the online submission form there are a few things that we are looking for, make sure you read through this small list and follow the steps. We love adding new faces to our team and are always looking for the best promotional models out there. If you have what it takes please submit online so we can notify you of upcoming events in your area.

1. We only work with models that are 18 and older, and a lot of our clients require the models to be over 21.
2. Please submit 4 pictures, head shot, body shot, favorite picture, and a candid picture. We understand that everyone doesn't have professional pictures and that is fine. Please do not submit pictures of you with friends, boyfriends/girlfriends, with sunglasses, or naked, we can not use these pictures. We want to see you smiling and close up. Pictures are the reason that you get booked in this industry so send us pictures that show the real you.
3. Please submit a resume. We want to know what kind of work that you have done in the past. We understand that promotional models have to start somewhere and some of you may not have experience. If you have worked in this industry, show us. We like to be able to promote you to our clients and tell them why you would be a great fit for their event.
4. Make sure that you provide all of your information. We need to know what city you are located in, your measurements, age and everything else we are asking for. This information is used for us and to send to clients, please don't ignore any of the fields.
5. After everything is complete and we review your submission we will add you to our database if we find you to be a good fit. We will then start contacting you about future events in your area and will start submitting you to clients if you are available.

Congrats To The New Miss Universe, Miss USA!

Promotional models love to dress up! We rarely have events where models get to wear gowns and go all out but it doesn't mean that it doesn't happen. The team at Pink Avenue Models has booked a couple trade shows or special events where the client requested gowns. We support getting all dolled up, it's fun! With all of this said we have to give a big congratulations to the new Miss Universe, Miss USA! We couldn't be more excited or supportive. Good luck to Olivia Culpo, she looked amazing last night! She beat 88 other contestants for the big win.

This Is Why We Are Anti Photoshop

The team at Pink Avenue Models sees hundreds of pictures a week. We get pictures of all kinds, airbrushed and super fake, candid and awesome, and tons of awful ones where we question why it was ever sent. We like a mix of professional and candid pictures, we feel like our clients want to see potential promotional models in different ways. Our modeling agency is a little bit different, we staff trade shows, and events, clients want attractive girls with brains and personality that can sell their product. With all of this said, we once again have found an article, one we are shocked with and do not support. Tips For The Perfect Promo Picture!

One thing that is a known fact is that promotional models take tons of pictures. Pictures are required for most events, it's evidence that the event went on, it's necessary for recaps, and client reports. Have you ever taken a picture and then asked if you could see it because you want to make sure you look good in it? Well read these tips and you will never have to doubt yourself again, you will be a picture pro.

1. Never take a picture straight on, always angle your body. It makes you look slimmer.
2. Use your body, arch your back, put all the weight to one hip.
3. Remember head down, eyes up. It's the best angle for your face. Tilt your head, never straight.
4. Keep your shoulders relaxed, if you are tense it will show in the picture.
5. Whatever parts of your body are closest to the camera will look the biggest. Keep that in mind when posing.
6. The reason we always have our hand on our hip is because it slims our arms. If your arm is flat to your side it looks double it's real size.

These simple steps are so easy to follow and once you've taken pictures like this a few times it will come naturally. Happy picture taking! You will be a pro in no time.

Brand Ambassador, Promotional Model, Trade Show Model, Spokesmodel...

Brand ambassador, promotional model, trade show model, product specialist, spokesmodel, all mean the same thing to me but there are a few differences. The team at Pink Avenue Models gets tons of phone calls from people asking how to get into the modeling industry and we always reply with we're a promotional modeling agency so we do things a little different. We try to explain what we focus in which is staffing events and trade shows all over the country. Our clients all use different words when booking models but all want the same results. I think the main differences between the terms used in this industry are the amount of training involved and the attire. Brand ambassadors - these positions are usually lower in pay, require khaki pants, an oversized t shirt, and take place outside. This is how a lot of people start in this industry. These are also the only type events that you can get aways with minimal amounts of make up and a pony tail. Promotional model - this term is used a lot in liquor promotions or special events. The client is usually looking for attractive models that have the brand knowledge of their product memorized. These models are required to have their hair and make up done, usually wear a dress and heels, and be extremely fun and personable. Trade show model - this is exactly what it sounds like, you are a model at a trade show. This is really good money for models because it's multiple days and long hours. Attire for these types of events can be anything from a suit to a swimsuit depending on the show. Clients look for experienced models that are professional, attractive and outgoing because you need to get people into their booth. Product specialist/spokesmodel - these are usually long term positions for 1 brand that require a lot of training and maybe even traveling. The perfect example would be an auto show. These models are paid well, usually have contracts, and know everything there is to know about the product they are promoting. Every one of these positions have the same goal which is to interact with potential consumers, educate them on the brand and encourage them to buy whatever you are promoting. The whole idea of a promotion is to promote a product and to get people excited about it, that is why companies spend so much time on marketing. This industry is so fun but we want you to remain professional as well. Happy Promoting!

Models Help Us Out! Follow These 8 Steps

The team at Pink Avenue Models tries to be as efficient as possible. We try to be quick and get everything to the client and promotional models as fast as possible, it makes life easier for everyone. We need the same from our promotional models! Here are a couple things we want all of you to keep in mind.

1. Send us updated resumes and pictures. Clients want to know what you look like now, and they like to know your experience. The more we have to show them, the better your chance of getting booked is.
2. Please get your model contracts back to us as soon as you can. It's a commitment between you and the agency and we hate asking for it numerous times.
3. Make sure your address is up to date. If you move, let us know so we don't mail your check to the wrong address. This happens way to often.
4. Please show up to your event hair and make up ready and happy! The client doesn't want to wait for you to get ready or hear about your bf drama.
5. Don't ask us if we can pay you earlier, if we can pay you more, or why parking isn't included. Every client has a budget and that is what we work with. We pay within 3 weeks which is fast for this industry.
6. Arrive in the correct attire, not what you feel like wearing that day.
7. Don't talk to the client about your check, or contract or anything else. They won't know these details.
8. If you take pictures of yourself at an event feel free to send them over. We like to see them too!

Update Your Pictures & Resumes For 2013!

December and January are usually the slowest months out of the year in this industry. Trade shows slow down, street team promotions only exist in warm places, there are special holiday events and non stop liquor promotions but it's a slow time for most of us. We want you to use this time to catch up on rest, traveling, booking events for 2013, but most of all for updating your pictures and resume. We submit pictures to every client and we like to use recent ones, clients don't want to know what you looked like 3 years ago. Winter Is Coming! Stay Warm During Outdoor Events

We’re well into the month of November and I have to say it’s pretty cold and rainy here in Chicago. Although the weather is less then nice we still have outdoor events and street teams taking place and this will go on all Winter. How do promotional models stay warm?? Here are some tips of how to stay warm when it’s freezing outside.

1. Wear layers! As many as you can. Chances are you will be provided with a branded t shirt so fit as many long sleeved shirts, sweatshirts and jackets as you can under it. Same with layering under your jeans, tights really help and multiple pairs of socks are a must.
2. Buy hand warmers and stick them in your shoes as well. They stay warm for hours and really help.
3. Drink warm liquids, hot tea, hot chocolate, and coffee.
4. Take breaks and go inside, any event manager will understand that staying outside for hours is crazy.
5. Keep moving, this will keep your body warmer.
6. Stand in places that block the wind or are in the sun if possible.
7. Bring gloves, a scarf and a hat. Cover as much of your body as possible.

Don’t forget to bundle up, it’s the only thing that will keep you warm in this Windy City. Remember to take care of yourself, if it’s too cold take breaks and warm up. If you know that you don’t do well in the colder temperatures avoid signing up for these events because the promotion still has to go on. Stay warm, have fun!

Easy Holiday Detox!

Holiday season has started and it isn't stopping anytime soon. The team at Pink Avenue Models loves the holidays just like everyone else. As we all know appearance matters in the promotional modeling industry and promotional models like to watch their weight. Some models do crash diets and cut a lot of things out in an unhealthy way. Today we found an article in Cosmopolitan about a healthy detox that we recommend for models. It's easy, you won't starve and you can do it around your busy event schedule.

1. Drink a lot. This means water, or tea not soda, energy drinks, or sugar filled juices.
2. Make sure you are eating between 1400-1600 calories a day. Anything less than 1200 is bad for your body.
3. Do not skip breakfast. Have something quick and healthy, oatmeal, apple and peanut butter, greek yogurt.
4. Fill your plate with lean proteins like chicken, fish, whole grain and veggies.
5. Carry healthy snacks with you, nuts or fruits are a perfect snack.
6. Cut out refined sugars, white flour, rice, high fat meats, dairy and soda.
7. Remember to exercise!
8. Don't cut gluten out of your diet, unless you have an allergy of course.

These simple 8 steps are easy, keep you energized but will prevent you from putting on holiday weight. Good luck ladies!

Promotional Model Must Have Items!

Are you interested in working in the promotional modeling industry? I have to say it is a fun industry to work in but very competitive. There are so many different jobs in this industry, you can work trade shows, events, liquor promotions, street teams and so much more. Before getting in this industry you should have professional pictures to send along with a resume. You will also need a few items in your closet, you may already have some. Here is a list of items every promotional model should own and since today is Black Friday it's a great time to shop for cheap! * Black pants. Make sure they are fitted and professional looking. Do not buy black jeans! * Black skirt. Not too short, not to long. The best length is mid thigh. * Black heels. Make sure they are closed toe. This is required for a lot of in store demos. * Black knee high boots. These are usually required when working liquor promotions. * Gym shoes. These are nice to have and usually worn during street team promotions. * Khaki pants/shorts. Khakis are required usually in the summer for outdoor promotions but can be asked for year round. * Umbrella. There are promotions that are rain or shine so make sure you have an umbrella. * Nude bra/underwear. There are some uniforms that are very sheer and that is when these items will be required. * Conservative/professional clothing. Most trade shows will request the trade show models to dress professional but sexy. Have a few items in your closet in case the client requests this look. It sounds like a lot of stuff but you never know what the client will request.

FABTECH 2012 - Las Vegas!

Fabtech is taking place at the Las Vegas Convention Center as we speak! It will be taking over Las Vegas until tomorrow and started yesterday. This is North America's largest metal forming, fabricating, welding, and finishing event. This trade show will be using over 400,000 square feet of space, will expect over 25,000 attendees, and have over 1,100 exhibitors. It's the perfect show to see the newest products and developments in this industry. We staff this event every year and are excited that we are part of it again this year. PRI 2012 - Orlando!

The Performance Racing Industry trade show will be taking place in Orlando at the end of this month. PRI will be taking place at the Orange County Convention Center this year and will take place November 29 - December 1. There will be over 1,100 exhibitors taking up over 700,000 square feet of the convention center. They are expecting almost 40,000 buyers from over 70 countries! This is a huge show and the team at Pink Avenue Models is excited to be staffing promotional models for it.

AHR Expo 2013 - Dallas!

The team at Pink Avenue Models has been booking the AHR Expo for years and we are excited to be staffing it again! This year the trade show will be taking place in Dallas at the Dallas Convention Center. The AHR Expo will be taking over Dallas January 28-30. This convention will have over 1,800 exhibitors that will be displaying their newest products and systems. This is the world's largest HVACR event, and they are expecting over 30,000 attendees! The 65th International Air Conditioning , Heating, Refrigeration Exposition will be happening in 82 days so of course we will start staffing asap! Have Your Promotional Models Been Trained?

A lot goes into hiring staff for an event, more than anyone knows. Usually there are multiple parties involved. Sometimes it starts with a client, they hire a marketing agency, then that marketing agency hires a modeling agency, and then a model is hired. There are a lot of contracts involved, and requests coming from various people. We want to hire the best staff that we can, and as we've said a million times before we are picky about who we add to our database. What an amazing 2012 and it's not even over! We had an extremely busy Summer and Fall is super busy as well. Here is a little update on what we have coming up the rest of October. PLMA 2012!

The PLMA is back and will be taking place in the Chicago area at the Rosemont Convention Center next month. This year there will be over 2,000 exhibitors from over 35 countries featuring food, snacks, beverages, household & kitchen items, as well as health & beauty products. The team at Pink Avenue Models spends most of their time booking awesome events and trade shows all over the country. We also spend time doing research on anything that could relate to the modeling industry. 2012 Glammy Awards!

The team at Pink Avenue Models focuses on staffing trade shows, street teams, and events all over the country. Modeling Industry - Not So Glamorous?

The team at Pink Avenue Models gets a ton of phone calls every day. The calls can be from clients, from our promotional models, future models or anything in between. A lot of models call and want to know about casting calls, open calls, or want to send us comp cards. Pink Avenue Models is mostly a promotional modeling agency, we staff events nationwide. Yes, we have staffed print work, or video work but it's not our main focus. With all of this being said I found this article on Yahoo yesterday. Models: Keep Your Skin Clear

Let's face it, promotional models are hired for their outgoing personalities but obviously their looks as well. The first thing people notice when they see a model should be their face so clear skin is mandatory. The team at Pink Avenue Models is always doing research on things that are important in this industry. Today we searched everywhere to find important skin tips. Do these things and never worry about another break out.

1. Keep your skin clean. Wash your face in the morning, and before bed. Sleeping with make up on is the worst thing you could do.
2. If you do have a break out, do not pop it! This causes scaring, swelling and makes it even worse.
3. Use an on the spot treatment if you do feel something popping up. It will speed up the healing process.
4. Use a retinoid, this will prevent wrinkles, fade spots, prevent acne and build collagen.
5. Don't over dry your skin.
6. Try not to stress, stress hormones create oil.
7. Protect your skin, which means sunscreen everyday. Buy a brand that has it and can be used as your daily moisturizer.
8. If you have scars from previous acne use a scar treatment to help them fade.

There are a few helpful hints to keep your skin clear and beautiful year round. We want you to look your best when working at trade shows or any other event.

Ready For A Busy Trade Show Season?

Summer is pretty much over in Chicago, it's 55 degrees outside right now. Yes, we may get a couple more warm days but all of the Summer weather is gone and so are all of the Summer events. This means that street teams will slow down and you can put away your gym shoes and khaki shorts. However, Fall is extremely busy for trade shows so we want to make sure you have everything you need to get booked for these. Every trade show is different and require different attire but there are a couple items that are requested often. Here's a short list of things that you should have in your closet for a busy trade show season.

1. Black dress. Not to short or revealing. Keep it conservative.
2. Black pencil skirt.
3. Black dress pants.
4. Blazer.
5. Black closed toe heels. Think small heels, you will be standing for 8+ hours.
6. White collared shirt.
7. Black flats. Some clients will let you get away with wearing these. Buy the dressy ones.

There is my list of 7 things that you will need for trade shows this season. A lot of these items will be requested year round for other events so they are good things to have in your closet. Maybe you have everything already, if not I gave you a reason to shop. Happy trade show season!

Formula Drift - Irwindale, California!

Just 36 days away from the title fight in Irwindale, California. A couple weeks ago we staffed models for the event in Las Vegas and now we are casting models in the Los Angeles area for round 7. Formula drift is in it's 9th season and is known as North America's professional drifting championship series. This is a high skilled and high powered sport where the cars maneuver into sideways slides at high speeds. The race is not judged on who has the best time but who has the best execution and style. On October 12-13 the race will take place at the Irwindale Speedway and we are so excited to be staffing promotional models for this exciting event. We can't wait to see who the client selects!

SEMA 2012 - Las Vegas!

SEMA is the premier automotive specialty products trade show in the whole world. Last year there were over 60,000 attendees and this year they are expecting even more. MBA's Annual Convention & Expo will be coming to Chicago in October. This is the perfect show to network with some of the best in the industry. Some of the attendees will include people from upper management from leading corporations, national and regional lenders, full service mortgage companies, mortgage brokers & conduits, service providers, affordable housing groups, and state and local association groups. Avoid These 14 Things For Clear Skin

The team at Pink Avenue Models loves doing research on new trends, beauty secrets, shopping and anything else that our promotional models may be interested in. Today we found an article that I feel is important and helpful. A models face is something that grabs attention so clear skin is a must. Here is a list of bad habits, if you are doing any of these stop asap. These things are aging you, making you break out, and preventing you from having the best skin possible. Do Not...

1. Skip sunscreen.
2. Smoke.
3. Drink. (occasionally is fine, excessively is not)
4. Use the wrong products for you skin type.
5. Use dirty make up brushes
6. Press your phone against your face. It's so dirty!
7. Overexfoliate.
8. Skip Sleep.
9. Sleep with make up on.
10. Eat a ton of junk food. Bad for your skin and your body.
11. Pick at your skin.
12. Forget to exercise.
13. Go tanning.
14. Use too many products. Keep your routine simple.

This is a short list of things that can cause skin issues, so try and avoid them.

Help Pink Avenue Models Out! 10 Easy Steps!

The team at Pink Avenue Models is always busy staffing events all over the country. We love working with all of our promotional models and clients and it can be very time consuming, and we are ok with that. There are a couple things that our talent can do to make things easier for us. These things are simple and they are better for you and us. Let's all help each other out!

1. Turn in your paperwork on time. We need this before your event, we use it as an agreement between us and we need it to pay you on time. Make sure you fill it all out, skipping your SS# means we can't pay you, giving us an incomplete contract means we will ask you to do it again.
2. Send us updated pictures if you have them. It's hard for us to book you when your pictures are years old. Not to mention you would show up looking nothing like your pictures. We don't need professional pictures, candid ones would be just fine. Just make sure you are the only person in them, and that it is current and appropriate.
3. If something comes up and you have to cancel, or will be late, or just don't feel like working make sure you CALL your agency contact. Emails are an easy way to back out and will not be tolerated. Email is an easy way to lie and kind of just proves that your excuse isn't true.
4. If you are available for an event please do not call and tell us. Respond to the email and we will submit you to the client, as always the client always makes the final decision. Since we contact a large amount of talent, we can not tell everyone that they were not selected, we only contact the models that were picked.
5. Please do not forward our castings or post them on social media websites. We are picky about who we work with and add people to our database based on pictures, resumes, and experience. The worst thing is getting emails from people saying they are available and we have no information from them. It's a waste of time for everyone.
6. Show up to your event on time, which means 15 minutes early. Come hair and make up ready in proper attire and work the best you can.
7. If there are any issues or you have any questions always call your agency contact, never ask the client. You are working directly for us so we are the only ones that can help you. The only time you should call the client is when you have arrived to the event and need to locate them.
8. We pay 3 weeks after the events last day which is quite fast in this industry. Please do not ask if we can pay you before that or ask where your check is. We are very good about paying our talent, you worked and we want to pay you on time.
9. Sometimes our clients reimburse for parking, sometimes they don't. You will be notified if the client for your event is reimbursing, and it will be in your contract. If the client is paying for parking you need to fax or email and scan your receipts to us asap!
10. Please do not call and ask questions that you can figure out yourself. Examples would be parking, directions, if there is construction or street closings, how traffic is. We book events all over the country and the only city I know well is Chicago. These are all things that can be googled or found on your gps. We are busy and here to help our models with important things but these minor things are things for you to figure out.

Busy Schedule? Don't Stress

The promotional modeling world can be awesome! We get to work fun trade shows, special events, get into every bar in the city for a liquor promotion, meet famous people, get VIP access and not to mention we represent amazing brands and get tons of free stuff. Everything has a downside and being overbooked and stressed are some of the downfalls to this industry. We think about work and how fun it will be and then we book ourselves all weekend, all week, sometimes multiple times a day. If that doesn't stress you out add paperwork, recaps, uploading pictures, being in traffic, making sure you have the right attire, and remembering to stop and eat on top of a busy schedule. STRESS! I found an article that includes ways to relieve stress, everyone has their own methods but here are some recommendations. Remember to just breath!

1. Have alone time. You need a break from people and need to do what makes you happy.
2. Write your schedule down and keep it with you. Then you will never forget or mix things up.
3. Try yoga. There are so many different types out there, do what works best for you.
4. Have a night out. Just don't talk or think about work, and make sure you don't stay out to late and miss your morning event.
5. Laugh. Watch a funny movie or call your entertaining friend.
6. Go for a long walk. Observe everything around you.
7. Listen to music, this is the easiest thing for anyone to do.
8. Have a relaxation day, get a massage, mani & pedi, haircut. You deserve to be spoiled!
9. Plan a mini vacation, this will keep you sane and give you a break from your busy schedule.
10. Take a nap, if possible. Otherwise make sure you get plenty of sleep at night.

There is a list of 10 easy stress relievers, try them all! Keep in mind when you are booking work not to over do it. Clients don't want tired, worn out models they want people with tons of energy. Make sure you leave time for yourself, we want our staff healthy and happy. Team Pink Avenue
